If there are 3 or more people traveling together buy the ticket at the ticket office near the train platforms and ask for groupsave you should get a discount on your ticket cost

I'm pretty sure you can use any American Credit Card in the UK

You'll very likely have to pay USD conversion of British Pounds, if done on-line it usually does this for you. Like said in the other comment, majority of US "credit cards" are accessed, especially Visa and MasterCard, American Express will be more limited.

Don't get the Gatwick express its a rip off get a day travelcard or use your countless carded on the ticket barrier and go to platform 4 for a fast service to London Victoria to London bridge it will cost £5 off peck and £10 on peek to travel without the Gatwick express its a waste of money and a con. Please Don't get the Gatwick epress
