The best thing about these renovation projects is that they retain so much of the original architecture and blend it seamlessly with the new, so future generations will still be able to look upon these buildings and see how they originally appeared without sacrificing the utility and design of modern architecture.

You should visit the district. The King's Cross area had changed beyond all recognition from the dingy, seedy area it was in the 80's....and still was until the early 00's. That's when it began to change, quite slowly at first but since 2010 the pace of change has really accelerated. So when you're next in London, visit the area - you won't be disappointed, but will be shocked at how much it's changed.

It's really hard to get across just how unpleasant the area was, particularly as an arrival point into London from a large section of the north. It was terrible. Drunks, druggies, tired badly maintained buildings. You just didn't linger, you got out as soon as possible.

London is one of the very few lucky places to be able to invest in something, and know it will be used. You don’t have major gangs that will take over an area, other areas won’t be abandoned just to experience the new area etc... and as a result, London is easily one of the most beautiful and popular cities in the world. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for places like Dubai, Doha, and even places like New York and Paris. When new areas are built they’re usually over the top, not for locals, and/or the old areas are abandoned or taken over by vile street gangs, and Dubai is one of the most prominent examples of this... but London is thriving, better than ever.

@@silliestsususagest3276 London is a mixture of old and new simply because it has been badly damaged on several occasions. The last major incident was 1941/42 when large parts of central London were destroyed by German bombing. This was the price paid by the British for opposing Nazi Germany. Shame that many countries in Europe just surrendered instead. As for the French they collaborated as well to their eternal shame. Central Paris is preserved for a reason. The 19th Century classical revival inspired by the boulevards of Baron Hausmann look impressive, but they are also covered in guilt and shame. I prefer London any day with all its problems. What you see is what you get. The same cannot be said for charlatan cities like Paris and Berlin.

@@ds1868 I often wonder how different British cities would look if it wasn't for the Blitz - more Georgian and Victorian town houses and less crumbling 60s concrete. Don't forget that the renovation of central Paris under Napoleon III was expressly to make it more like London, too.

I've loved the King's Cross area ever since I first got a train there some 10 years ago - when the revival plans (St Pancras excluded) were only just starting up. It's been lovely to see if grow over the years (I even lived nearby for a while! And took sneak peeks at the construction whenever I could :D), connecting the old and the new, and additionally nice to hear about the very latest developments, since I haven't had the chance to visit the area in a few years now! :)

Do a video on Copenhagen's new metro network expansion and on it's planned expansions. The city currently has two metro lines with two more opening this year and in 2022. With another 4 on the drawing board plus they are converting it's S-Train system into metro giving the city roughly 200 metro stations for a city with 2.2mill people when it's all done!

Great video, showcasing this lovely area, of London. Not too long ago, Kings Cross and St.Pancras stations were dilapidated buildings, full of diesel fumes. Now modern interiors and fascias blend with their restored historic architecture. And modern electric trains run frequent services, to multiple destinations, including Europe. At night, where prostitutes, drug addicts and muggers once roamed, workers and families go to dine and shop. Derelict railway property has been transformed in to pleasant open spaces, like Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square, that are full of shops, restaurants and offices. There's even a nature reserve, Camley Street Natural Park, next to Regents Canal. Electric powered buses and cabs mean that the air, on the streets, is much cleaner. And if you venture away from the busy areas, you can still find local cafes and specialist shops, in the backstreets, along with beautiful old garden squares. I've been there, many times, and the transformation has been incredible to witness.
