Greetings from Australia. My wife and I travelled from Edinburgh to Kings X a couple of years back and absolutely loved the journey. Unfortunately the train had to make an extended stop in Doncaster to have an overheating brake serviced. This resulted in a slight delay which did not inconvenience us at all. The train crew were wonderful and opened up the snack bar for free. A lovely bonus!

The hushed silence and gentle rocking of the car as you blaze over the countryside makes train travel superior above all other modes of transportation, in my opinion. There isn't another travel experience quite like it.

Really miss my frequent trips to Scotland by train. My ex girlfriend who I still really miss lives in Glasgow and I would often go see her. I made sure never to fall asleep on the train just so I could immerse myself in the views. Both rail lines which take you into Scotland have breathtaking views once you get past Manchester/Preston and on the other side Newcastle/Berwick Upon Tweed.

I’ve had the fantastic pleasure, I’m not kidding of traveling with and on in my opinion the 2 best train companies in the U.K. one is L N E R and the other is trans Pennines. I’ve traveled a few times in standard but mostly in first class and I can truthfully say that in either standard or first class the trains were spotless, the staff were were for me the best that would be an asset to any of the top hotels in the U.K. now the food, the only thing I can say about the food was it was delicious and filling. 👍👍👍👍👍

Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s my family loved air and train traveling. I especially loved the food cars. But, recently, my husband and I traveled by train. I became debilitatingly nauseous from motion sickness and claustrophobia. It was strange because I had never had difficulty traveling by train before. Even air travel causes claustrophobia. But I can enjoy your videos and remember how it was.

Dec 2010.. probably one of the worst winter in Europe... Took me like 12 hours from Montrose to London and 2 times train exchange (should be a direct train, but rail blocked by ice) and finally completing the trip with double decker bus without heater from only God know where to London at midnight... dragging 20kgs of luggage and most of the train's door are stuck with ice. @@StokesburyUSA I'm no lefty. London is great because it is a true world city, a mosaic of cultures that goes back a millennium or two. It just works. I think having such a great world city in your country is something to be proud of. I get there are downsides, e.g. it attracts some bad people, it distorts the UK economy, being a hub probably made Covid worse for the UK, etc,. But at the end of the day, Britain and British culture would be the poorer if it wasn't so. I love it.

I really enjoyed this video, thank you. You were lucky to be in one of the old Mark 3 trains and not an Azuma where the 1st class is little better than 2nd. I travel regularly from Glasgow to York and back, using 1st class whenever I can afford it. I always found the Edinburgh and Newcastle based catering staff chirpy and friendly, and am missing them a bit in the Pandemic. I couldn't belive you managed to catch a shot of a green Class 47 loco in the sidings at Tweedmouth without even commenting upon it! One of the highlights of the film! Oh, and by the way, sheep come in flocks, not herds, although I know that livestock vocabulary can be difficult.

@TheRenaissanceman65 What I didn't say in my previous posting, was that last time I went First Class in an Azuma I had an aisle seat as the train was busy, and the table leg is directly in front of your knees, so I couldn't fold my feet over each other as one often does when sitting (i.e. ankle over ankle), and it was hard to move my legs around. I can no longer see the point in paying extra for first class.

15:46 is what i was waiting for. My alma mater, Durham. It's shame whenever i traveled from Durham to London, it was on Megabus; never took train. International students coming to study in England might be rich in their country but all of sudden feel poor in England and always look ways to save their money. Megabus was a blessing for me with the cheap fares. Although i traveled between Durham and Newcastle by train many times. Obviously Megabus doesn't have a stop in Durham, you have to go to Newcastle.

I loved Edinburgh Station - full of steel and beautiful wrought iron. Such a contrast to the 'Formica-style' hideous re-creation of Peterborough North, my home town as was.
