🇬🇧 LONDON, UK - Welcome to London once again as I continue my short weekend trip by travelling back to my country and city of origin for the first time in years! Last time, I returned to my hometown in almost a decade, but this time we’re checking out the London the Instababes don’t show you… brutalist architecture, what Londoners really eat at Fish and Chip shops, and more!
There are so many things to do in London, but many aspects of the city just aren’t publicised because they’re not ‘pretty’ or ‘Insta-worthy’. We check out Trellick Tower, visit Portobello Road Market (which some awesome 'British' food, in other words, Brazilian food (coxinha!)), and generally see a more 'grimy' and concrete side to the UK capital! If you’re planning a trip to London and want to know places to visit outside of the central area, Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge, some of what’s included here might be right up your travel street! Forget The Crown Season 5, see the real city, from the point of view of a Londoner!

That's London done! Note that I was only in London for 2 days and left around 23rd October. I have been in Sofia since then which is where the next couple of videos are coming from before my final one later in the month! *What's your relationship with your home city like?*

I still have a place near my home town and visit there regularly. My plan is to make a permanent move to Mexico. It's extremely hard to make the commitment even though I enjoyed every minute of my time in Mexico over the past 4 months. Financially, Mexico is the obvious move, since I can't afford my preferrred retired life style along with impending health care costs in the USA.

I couldn't imagine going back to London! Since Brexit feels like a downward spiral - economically and socially. We've left and, thankfully, living close to Lisbon - beaches, dolphins, nice wine, great fish, with friendly fun locals and over 300 days of sunshine a year. Going back to the UK? Nah mate, you're alright.

I was quite surprised at how difficult it all was actually! There was a deleted scene where I said I found it difficult to see things as a foreigner would see them. Like in Mexico I'd be amazed by a church but in London I was like "oh, it's a church" but then had to remember that viewers may actually want to see that!

My only 2 week visit to UK was in 1977. We stayed with relatives in Gerrards Cross and made a road trip to Edinburgh. My cousin and I would take the train into London and Piccadilly Circus. We also managed a weekend trip to Paris including Pigalle Square.

Wow man, 5 years before I was born! I really want to go back to Paris at some point. I only went for the first time aged 37, which for a Brit is thoroughly bizarre considering most people go on school trips (my school had obviously spent the budget lol). How's Mexico doing without me lol

Hey man thanks, glad you can relate! Unfortunately I only have a few videos left before taking an indefinite break to do other things (like the book I mentioned). It's funny you mention Torreon because someone on Instagram tagged me in a story from that burrito place I went to in a video. I'm missing Mexico lately! It normally happens after about 4 months! Enjoy the gorditas!

Tallinn city has built a new brutalist council estate in 2010. It's called Raadiku. Tallinn also has a lot of other brutalism excamples, also 21st century brutalism, for example Sõjakooli. I recommend visiting our city for all fans of brutalism.

I've been in London for a first time back in 1982. I was 21 at the time, you have just been born 😁. It looked like shit , but don't take me wrong, everything looked like shit at the time. Bad roads, bad pavements, neglected facades, graffiti etc. But, I liked it much ! It was outstanding city, nevertheless. It was at the time when marines and navy just have returned from Falkland, and atmosphere were joyful and victorious, there vere all around posters with welcoming messages to troops, lock up your daughter kind of stuff... Now, if you check tv shows from that time, filmed in exterior, you will see what I'm talking about. Crappy fashion, shity loud cars, dusty streets, litters everywhere. Same here, when I checked, recently, a French movie Le prix du danger, by Boisset, 1983, who decided to film in Belgrade, like in one undefined European big city, I wanna vomit for how disgusting city looked in 1982. ( That movie is , actually, original script for later Hollywood hit with Swatzeneger - Running man ). Now, all these brutality architecture ( Barbican been opened recently back than ) , were highlights of cityscapes , but that style doesn't age well. You might like it, but it's ugly. I love London more from new century, it was super outstanding in 2010's , now it's overly overgrown megastructure. My friend works at Ile of dogs and publishes pics from 60th floor every morning on a social media , details from a complex and so... Now, trying to make a point. Brutality architecture is made at times where people needed cheap maintenance and just to get in and live. No further spendings needed, except for light bulbs. And during a time, that budings somehow detoriated . All concrete is still there, but it looks shity. Ile of Dogs, or my neighboring Belgrade Waterfront , are all big, shiny and posh , but meintenance costs are high. Question is , how these modern complexes would look in a future, if economy collapse and tenants stop paying maintenance. They have money now, what if world face crisis? I mean, it's expectable... Ok, I've already wrote way too much, cheers and waiting for new content from Sofia, Nesebar , Trnovo , Beogradchik and other cool places in Bulgaria.

@@davidostrowski679 that was hot summer, one day IRA blown up horses and riders during a victory parade , as I remember , the procession took place along the Mall and I was at the St. James park. Big boom and running all around. Regarding your dad and picking him up for war, eight years later it happened to me, when Croatia became runaway Republic. I've been afraid that army will pick me up. And they did. Spent all autumn in Croatian mud . But, it was all nice, since I was young 😁

It was please like love - the words with the heart. Thank God you survived the appendicitis. Another thing about London?. Those steps are unforgivably ugly. But there's charm. How are glass towers different? Remember to ask where the warmth is. That London tower is warm compared with the glass. Is that the elevator tower on one side? It looks like a spreadsheet. People should stop building spreadsheets. I've read that lot's of modern architecture is supposed to elevate the person. It seems the idea does that to you, though you haven't lived in it as far as I know. Is it comfy? Things work? Built in a way that the common areas really fit the social idea? Who cares and why? Can't we just get along? My goodness - buildings don't riot. And love is not a fixed commodity for people or places.. Hold onto it. In your London and previous videos you hold on in the midst of the storm! I and many expect the love. Don't feel burdened. Love is kind and it's yoke is easy, as Jesus said. To me it seems normal not to let the love shine. But it's there. The first time I smelled the weed oil scent on a bus I thought someone hadn't washed. Fourth time I got a clue. The subsidized people I see on my block just want another $5 for a hit of whatever they do and I give them a cigarette and sometimes $5. They don't smell like skunks. But I never thought skunks smelled that bad per se - it's the way it overwhelms. What's the Brexit position on skunks? One of the most charming things I've seen as a driver is stopping for a skunk family to cross the road - A line of them bookended by the parents. Who couldn't love them? Human love - well there we go. Remember it's a love ride and not the horrors en route. How did you end up on such an empty 70s train? Saw it. Said it. Not sorted! I just finished some General Tso's chicken - I saw the Brazilian food - that makes me realize how much it depends. Remember the Lilliputions? My chicken nuggets were portioned for them. I doubt it has to do with inflation. The pickled eggs and chips looked great. It depends upon the potatoes more than the eggs. I suspect you make your London trauma too much of a thing and its presence in your book should be more of a count-to=ten type of thing. You don't mention your family much - whether to keep them aside or for deeper reasons. No need to write London or people off. Like a brutalist tower or the ceiling of a chapel - keep looking up! And forgive my blathering.
