London Underground, Volume 3 (The Real Groove Of The Nineties) 1994 mix by Blood Brothers

The Blood Brothers are Justin Langlands and Dave Henley who also perform under the name Pressure Drop. This mix was released in 1994 as the third and final part of a trilogy they made for Marlboro Music in Germany.

This was originally released on CD and vinyl by Marlboro Music / Boombastic Records in Germany. Volumes 1 and 2 appeared in 1992 and 1993, and the label also released two albums by Pressure Drop that can be found elsewhere on KZbin.

Being from London I can tell you that Drum n Bass did not originate from London. Bristol more like. I would go as far as to say that it diversified in London in the early 1990s…Goldie…Grooverider…LTJ Bukem…DJ Hype….Bad Company…Optical…Dom & Roland…Ed Rush…Ragga Twins…Plastikman… Man, i could go on but I never really got into it, I loved my Jazz Funk and Acid Jazz vibe too much! As for the Gunners, they fire once again..!

Interesting title here. Being a life long Londoner into music since I could walk in 1963 in London, this reminds me of the London tube trains which were retired years again…) I would travel on them and up to the West End to buy music on vinyl which has been sampled in a lot of the 1990s music you put together in your ACID JAZZ MIX as we call it in the 90s. With most of it coming out of an Italian record label ( IRMA RECORDS ) as well as a London record label, Acid Jazz Records and Blue Note. I used to deejay in a bar for the best part of the 1990s when this music was popular and CDs were the norm. So glad I kept my vinyl collection as well as these aging classics! Not sure though if REAL groove ofthe 90s is an apt title…

Pure class with a dash of street sophistication. Wouldn't expect anything less from Pressure Drop. A woefully under celebrated band....even when they're mixin other crews tunes. Can't miss a dollop of props to Outside (Trk 3). More people need to know the masterful soundscapes that project provided. OOooowf...seen people melt while imbibing Outside oscillations.

Basically I learned to beatmix practising on two beltdriven turntables by using their Release the Pressure ep which had quite a few tunes in the same-ish tempo/vein... This mix here by them... They pretty much nailed it headon using none of the typical names you`d expect in such a mix, and all the better for it. There was a bunch of other labels and outfits doing exciting stuff out of the limelight. Not that Pressure Drop would know anything about that
