East Ham is a district of the London Borough of Newham, England, 8 miles (12.8 km) east of Charing Cross. East Ham is identified in the London Plan as a Major Centre. The first known written use of the term, as 'Hamme', is in an Anglo-Saxon charter of 958, in which King Edgar granted the land to Ealdorman Athelstan. East Ham Local Government District was created in 1878, when the ancient parish of East Ham adopted the Local Government Act 1858 and formed a local board of nine members to govern the area. In 1886 the local government district was extended to include the civil parish of Little Ilford (also known as Manor Park) and the board was increased to 12 in numbers.

So much beautiful memories. I love this place. This place carries a lot of my history like My childhood, playing around with friends, going to school,secretly following my crush, proposing my love to my crush after school,skiping school and dating with my crush,loving one girl and married the girl and walk with her in this area,always studying hard and getting good grades to study for desired job,joining the desired job, learning spirituality and sharing spiritual and psychological knowledge,waiting for new computer games to release and stand in row to buy the game,bringing my mom or dad or bros to upgrade my laptop for new games,drinking with highschool friends and secretly entering my house to avoid getting scold by parents,playing with my brothers in the nearest park, I and my brothers teasing and disturbing our elder and younger sisters when parents gone to work,running in this area,cycling in this area,riding bike in this area and learning how to drive car in this area,Going to temple with my family,eating in restaurant with family and spending my entire childhood and teenage joyfully in this area. Im still living here.I love this place.♡from East ham London. This place is divine. Im really blessed to live here. So much love and memory. This is where I born, grow and living.💕💕💕

Nice video. I went to East Ham College in 1975. I lived in Manor Park. Second Ave and Meanley rd. More videos please of Manor Park. I live in California now. I am 64 years old. Great memories

I just came across your video, thanks for making it. I was brought up in East Ham from 1946 to 1964, of course much has changed but it good to see it still seems to have a lively community and the old High Street is still going strong. The vacant site at the end of your walk was the Co-op department store, I think there are photos on the Newham Council website.

Lived off of high Street north, near the tube station, back in the mid 70s..to say it's changed would be an understatement

@@smexplore6199 yes mate, I'm 67 now.. My mum and dad had a shop on Burgess Rd, and I had a girlfriend who lived on Rosebury Avenue (I think, it could have been Roseberry - it's a while ago 😊).. Happy days. It's a shame that the Ruskin Arms has shut. It was a great music venue for semi-pro bands. Iron Maiden played there in their very early days, also mid to late 70s. Great vids, thanks for your work

@@keithwaites9991 Thank You 😊 I live Manor Park for 19 years before me and my parents moved to Luton. And yeah Ruskin Arms has shut down and there's was another Pub near plashet Grove has been demolished and they build a Temple. And ones again Thank you for watching my channel 😊

You started this video at the top of the road where I used to live. There were butchers, greengrocers, fish mongers, newsagents, toy shops, shoe shops, wonderful clothes shops etc. Now it's all smelly fast foods, sari shops, and pubs closed down. It's such a shame it has come to this.
