I remember seeing the video for Ways to Be Wicked on MV3 and I was hooked. I went to music plus and bought the album. I wanted so bad to see them live but they played clubs and saddley I was under 21. I bought Shelter and then they disappeared. This band and Maria's voice are pure raw talent. No one can hold a candle to this performance.

Magical is an understatement. In the late 80’s Lone Justice were a refreshing respite from multitude of trends that came and went of that era. Maria and the band were a gem that I ran into purely bu accident, but never regretted a single moment. Her voice is so unique, it just always hits the spot whenever I listen her.

I remember this vividly. I was hunkering down in the new romantic hell of the 80s wondering when those wretched synthesisers would ever just fuck off, and if there would ever be a time when it could be socially acceptable to like guitars and drums thumped by actual people. Then this little bird with huge heart and lungs came on TV and I realised there was hope.

One of the best bands with great songwriting combined with one of the greatest God given voices EVER!! Patsy/Jeane Sheppard/Wanda meets Aretha/Dusty/Tina meets Loretta/Tammy/Dolly meets Linda/Emmy/Roseanne meets Patti/Chrissie/Siouxsie. There would be no Neko Case, Patty Griffin, Tift Merrit, Those Darlins or Lindi Ortega, etc. without Maria.

When youth and talent come together, it can be extraordinary. She was amazing. Too bad Lone Justice didn't continue recording. We can only imagine what could have been. But, it's nice to revisit these songs and videos that we do have.
