I saw them a couple of times. Once at the Manchester International 1 around end of 1986 I think and then saw Maria on her own with a small band a couple of years later in a tiny pub venue in Nottingham. Maybe also saw her at Rock City around the same time - great live band I was introduced to by my older brother.

I am loving this band and the the talent of Maria McKee is mind blowing, What a singer and entertainer, I know she has done some great things since, but if Maria had had good record company support, she and Lone Justice could have easily been a massive success.

Well, the band was signed to a major-label deal, and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty's band had a heavy influence on that great first record. But I don't think anyone knew what to do with Maria as an artist. She looked amazing and had an outstanding voice and presence. But the whole cowpunk thing - while big on the LA club circuit at the time - just didn't translate nationally for whatever reason. And so, she kind of fell through the cracks at the arena-rock level.

Like a country rock version of Blondie. This track hardly does them justice! I loved their sound, but the band never escaped its cow-punching niche. This was a surprise to me as The Eagles had certainly opened the door. Blondie's sound was New York urban and easily surfed the punk/new wave scene from city to city.

Love the drummer's energy... @ 5:59 watch that 'ol stick break, or perhaps it flew out of his hand, yet, he grabs another & never misses a beat! I really miss those glorious 80's when there was so much great "indie" rock at the time but the industry wasn't quite ready yet to unleash its brilliance! 😉 🎶 🍀 💜

So talented, so cute, so sexy…..then I moved to NYC in 1987, met a girl who wasn’t in a band, wasn’t famous, but was just as cute, just as sexy, but very talented, very cute, very sexy….reminded me of Maria….very happy to say next year is our 30th anniversary…..

This brillant preformance, this his right here is the reason music sucks right now. Producers who think they know everything try to get perfection in the studio. Lone justice albulms could never capture anything close to their live performances. Dear Jimmy Iovine, you should have just pressed play on the tape recorder and walked the f away. This band should have been #1.
