Ha! I give you credit for reviewing this, and being even-handed in your assessment. Living here in the mighty U S of A, the idea of giving Lone Star a serious review would seem ridiculous, but it’s nice to taste it through a Welsh palate. One thing I will mention is that you shouldn’t dismiss rice and corn so easily. Pete Lengyel over here in Brooklyn at Kings County Brewers Collective has this rice-heavy adjunct lager called “Straphanger” that is pretty much the perfect summer beer. It’s as if whatever watery macro-lager a given kid grew up drinking suddenly woke up and remembered to be delicious. I don’t know what the chances are of your getting your hands on a can, but if you can, do it.

Yeah, there's corn in them thar hills! Back in the 1980s, when Budweiser and Miller ruled American bars, Lone Star would have been an exotic brand to find anywhere else but Texas. It's probably better than most American adjunct lagers, but it definitely has corn in it.

Clay Heath Cheers Clay, and no offense at all. There is some good beer in Texas, I just know a few that may not agree but not that it means it’s a bad beer either. I’ve had it in the past at one of our beerfest and it is decent enough.

Also gotta remember the price point they are dirt cheap a 6 pack of tall boys is 8$ here a Heineken 6 pack of 12 oz glass is 10$ I prefer shiner but when I’m getting a lot line Star is clutch a pitcher at my bar is like 8$ normally only need 2 for a group of 6-10

You can lager any style, you get a cleaner taste less prone to off flavors you find in ale.

I live in Texas and this is just cheap beer that you pick up after mowing the lawn on really hot summer day. Now their Lone Star Bock I thought was outstanding and more to European tastes but sadly they quit making it. :( But I agree with the other comment, that Shiner Bock is really considered to be more of a better representative of a decent mass-produced Texas beer (and probably the most popular Texas made beer in Texas). That being said for craft beers, I highly recommend that you look into the "Real Ale" brand of beer out of Blanco, Texas. Their beers are all incredible beers with flavors that will please almost anyone. My favorite is their "Devil's Backbone" Belgium-style Tripel Ale which tastes like a VASTLY more expensive Tripel Ale from Belgium but for a 3rd of the price. Their Fireman's #4 blonde ale and their Brown Ale are also excellent. But as someone who likes a variety of different types of beer, I've yet to taste one of their beer types that I didn't like.
