Drew you are so creative & clever. I have learned more from watching your channel this last few month than I have from watching years of countless TV Decorating shows. When you suggested swamping out the glass coffee table for a solid wood one, which was under a patterned rug, a light bulb went on for me. I recently got a similar pattern rug, but my beloved glass coffee table just seemed off with the rug. I swapped it for a solid round table. you Also mentioned to many squares in the furniture. I looked around & sure enough, everything seems to be squared I’m room. Great suggestions, Drew! I would either turn the cat box so that the opening is pointed toward the shower, instead of pointing into the center of the bathroom, OR, put the cat box inside of an end table/night stand or other small wooden unit to disguise it, just drill a big enough hole in the side of that furniture piece so the cat can get in. 🐱

Sara’s place looked soooo nice! I think she used a lot of Pinterest ideas but with different designs cause the tv area looks farmhouse with the stained wood, baskets and black metal accents, and the desk area looks boho with the hanging plants and mid century with the natural wood desk and the natural wood shelves next to it, and the seating area looks like a mix of mid century because of the gorgeous sectional and accent wall but the lamp and photo shelf is a different vibe. Personally I wood stain the desk to match the tv area, replace the lamp with a mid century style one ideally black matte(target project 62 🙌), get a closed cabinet for the desk area because the office supplies is a bit cluttered, replace the throw pillows with graphic bold printed ones, and I would replace the hanging plants(kinda small for the space) above the desk with a cute tapestry with the colors of the sectional and throw pillows or a cute art print

@Lietuve04 жыл бұрын
I love her room ✨💛✨ and I agree that she should either stain the desk darker, or at least buy darker wood closed off storing space near the desk for cohesiveness. And maybe put few larger plants on it..? If she doesn't want to move the shelve above the couch lower, I'd just hang same diy hanging plants, or just those yarns knobed like fishnets to fill the space. If it's too dark for the real plants or succulents- maybe hydroponic ones in glass containers or just fake plants would be lovely. And also scatter few of those plants and yarns onto the shelves near TV, tho Drew's idea for yellow color accent is brilliant ✨
@witgob4 жыл бұрын
I love your suggestions, Drew. The couch and wall colours are great, really sunny and striking. With the plants by the window - maybe pop them in a planter box. A bunch of grouped plants make them easier to water as well. If they can't all fit, maybe put a couple on a sunny window sill in another place. A planter box would also be easier to shift about as well - maybe pop it outside on a nice day for a few hours. I understand about the rug with little kids as well. It's a beautiful rug. Possibly have cleaning stuff handy to deal with spills quickly? Salt works really well on red wine (for older kids!).
@thetravelcrunch3 жыл бұрын
My favorite tips I will be implementing are: • break up a room with same shape (in my case square) with some organic shapes • if there is a lot of solid colors break that up with possibly some patterned couch pillows • avoid crowded furniture/spaces by hiding items like printer in a closed wardrobe or unit • changing lightbulbs that may be yellow or a whiter color Truly appreciate your help! Just found your channel. You have yourself a new sub 👌🏼

The Norway apartment was beautiful. I like the current wall decor. I agree woth the rig and closed office storage. But another idea is adding a plant stand so she has more room for her plants to soak up the sun. Also, I don't know why it bugged me. But I saw that couch as orange on my end, and you said it was yellow. So maybe the color was off in the video?

i L👏O👏V👏E👏 these videos. It really gets my mind working and inspiration flowing! I love the little tips I pick up on the way - for example, just from the coffee table suggestion, I learned that if you have a lot of square and rigid shapes you can soften/balance that with organic shapes, and if you have a really busy patterned rug, its pleasing to break up that pattern with opaque furniture. (lol 'opaque' seems like such a weird descriptor for furniture... but you get what i mean). Also I'm SHOOK by how much lighting can change the mood of a room. I found the tips for the bathroom were especially helpful!

You should see my apartment. The entire apartment is painted in a dull yellow. It's a horror taking photos indoors. When we moved in, I asked if I could switch out the light fixtures especially the one over the dining table and they said no even when I said I would bear all the removal and re hanging cost before I move out. They frown upon any changes really. When I get my own place, I'm going to cover the walls in whitest paint there ever was. Kasper will be jealous. It makes it easier for us to have an idea of what to be on the lookout in our one spaces and how to make them better. And it really helps!!! I was not convinced of my living room as well... but now I now a bit better what I was missing. So thanks.

You have such a great eye - these re-dos ares spot-on! A thought: it looks like there's room to put a small bench or piece of furniture that the cat box can go in/under for added camouflage in the second re-do.

Hi Drew - I’m a first time viewer of your channel. I am so impressed at the drawings you do. It just gives such a concrete demonstration of your ideas. Thanks so much I really enjoyed it! Also - really good ideas for real homes and real people - not just show homes!

I'm sitting here giggling bc I don't think Drew has ever lived with a cat....."add a plant " ...plant eaten or thrown onto floor so the cat can sit on the stool, "add some towels " ....find towels in litter box. Kids and pets....the downfall to any great decor advice. I have two 6 month old German Shepherds puppies.....and that is why I don't have any nice decor ATM ,once they hit two years I should be able to redecorate ...just bought our home and spent 3 thousand fencing in our backyard to keep the "babies" safe. Honestly can't wait to get rid of the Tiffany blue shag carpet from the 80's in the livingroom and dining room.....it's truly cringe worthy. Love you Drew❤

TRUUUUUE😂 everything has to be at least 3 feet off the ground from my puppies or it can’t be expensive cause no matter how hard I try everything is a chew toy to them😭😂

I add the same reaction too with the white carpet, she have a baby in her arms . But still a nice decor has usual.

Lol I'm so glad I read this. I'm helping my boyfriend decorate his new place, and he has a cat and I've never had one.

Not all cats are like that though. Some don't give a damn about plants.

@@stuckinlimbo8242 True but those cats are few and far between....I had two that were amazing cats, that lived to 25 and 19 years ...neither ate plants but their 10 year old sister destroyed EVERYTHING, lol.

I love how you suggest selling current pieces to get new. Buying new furniture is daunting and flat out impossible for so many people. Selling to make back some money for new stuff, is something I think a lot of people wouldn't even think of. It's a great idea! 💡
