Being born in 1990, after the height of the karate kid, I did see 2nd hand how influential the karate kid was. My dad absolutely loved the karate kid. I watched it here and there growing up, but it didn't really stick with me. When Cobra Kai came out, it blew my expectations out the water. I went back and watched all the karate kid movies, I read Ralph's book and got consumed. I can see how dearly ralph loves his character and how protective he is. We're at the end of the story, but I'm so glad I was there to watch it at its peak.
