lonely in jc: day in the life of a quiet student. | vjc vlog

i know victoria junior college is quite reputed for it’s super HYPE AND RARARA culture, but i wanted to show the perspective of someone who doesn’t really fit the extroverted stereotype of the typical victorian. i don’t have a lot of friends, i don’t actually have a solid friend group, but that doesn’t mean jc life has to be miserable. (:
to all the j1s who had just entered ori and feel afraid of being left out, it’s really okay. i feel the same way too, as a j2 who already struggles to connect with her class. don’t force yourself to befriend people you don’t like, and don’t change yourself to please others. be yourself. true friends will stick with you no matter what. 🩷

when i saw that title i hoenstly felt quite happy knowing that there’s someone else who’s like me😭i’m from jc too and i just cannot click with anyone in my class and despite having a small friend group i nvr rly felt happy interacting with them due to rly different interests and never rly agreed with things they did… even though i have good friends from other classes it’s just so hard to stay close with them because of the packed schedule and i can’t help but question if it’s me problem all along🥲🥲but i so agree with being lonely rather than pleasing others just to fit in🫶 hope you’re doing well in school still:)

I also thought that anyone who goes to JC always had a great social life and is always the life of a party. I get you though! I was also always alone and on my own for several years in ITE, but then I was forced to socialize and interact now I'm in Poly.

Hiii I think I have a similar story - but I was in VS. Naturally, the guys are more sporty, while I'm really interested in only studying. Hence I didn't quite like the culture, and I chose not to go VJC. Ironically, after I graduated from university I've delved so much into sports, that everyone was surprised I even had those opportunities. Guess it's similar to those late bloomers. Adding on my personal advice, ok to be alone - that's free time for yourself! When something catches your fancy, your heart will know it, and your free time will be filled. That's what happened to me and I am hoping I can have some free time to even clean up my table now. Imagine if I have a lot of commitments with friends after school - I probably can't do the things I want. Of course, this is a super well done video!

Hey! Very glad that I can relate a lot to your vlog. I was extremely introverted during my JC days and spent lots of my breaks/free periods in solitude as I really enjoyed the tranquility. Now I'm working full time and have naturally become more extroverted (idk how but I guess my extroversion came with age). My job requires minimal interaction with others and I lowkey wish that I can be surrounded by my peers back in school. JC me would've been so surprised at how extroverted I've become, haha! Chanced upon your video. I'm twice your age and was from JC system too. Being in humanities class, we usually have alot more girls than boys. I didn't hang out much with my peers other than a couple of boys in civic group during my time, and JC just passed hastily in a blink. Looking back, I wish I were a bit more socially involved in my class even if I only need a few friends. Damn, i dont even remember much about my jc life now. It's like 2 years of life lost. Am pretty sure more fond memories would have been made if i were more active in school. Nonetheless, you are definitely on the right track to revise during your free time rather than waiting till exam time. I never did that and i screwed things up. Haha Anyway, all the best for your studies!

i do make notes but tbh i don’t find it effective beyond organising info from ur tb. if the notes u have from teachers etc is already quite structured theres no need to make new ones. practice is FAR more impt

I am a student in victoria sch's o level track, whenever I go to VJC for VCA events or so, it always came across to me that vjc's campus it a bit old and run down as compared to other jcs. Right now, RJC is my goal and VJC is more of a back up option.
