I am late to the channel and am enjoying binging on your videos. The tip that works great for me is a tin or waterproof container, small enough to toss in a bag. Put bandages maybe Polysporin and alcohol wipes. Not sure if we can access them but steri-strips and or butterfly bandages for cuts. Or glue. Just a few tips that you already know. I keep it in my purse and travel bag. I like to pack light and practically. I am learning so much and rekindled some of the knowledge passed on to me from my very native amarican Dad and knew bushcrafting. We went on trails to explore wildlife. Anyways sorry. I am spent after crying over my feral cat dying from Kidney failure. It was nearly a month and I miss her. In the end it was round the clock caring. She was 19 and I am going on again. Ok great video excuse the long comment. 😊❤

For cuts like you had, the trick or remedy is to use the tabacco leaves from cigarettes and place it on the cut area. This trick will stop the bleeding almost instantly! I've cut my hand when trying to chop a coconut once and when I applied the tabacco leaves, it stopped. Note to self: bring a pack of cigarette with you and put it in your emergency kit - but don't smoke it 😁.

Hey, I keep blood stop on hand for my dog (basically for when you trim dog nails too short and they bleed), but I've used it on myself many times and it absolutely works. Just a dab does it, and it's super lightweight. A small amount in a thimble sealed in... a water balloon or plastic wrap maybe?... would work for most wounds unless they're really big. It still works on large wounds, you just need more of it.

Maybe some Ibuprofen would be a helpful addition to your medical kit. I carry a small med kit, too. But it's a little more than just band-aids. I bring band-aids, Ibuprofen, gauze pads, stretchy tape and antibiotic ointment. I always cut myself when I'm camping - one way or the other. Once I wash it well with soap, squirt on some antibiotic ointment, wrap it with whatever bandage is appropriate for the size of the cut, it stops hurting. I think cleaning it goes a long way to making it feel better. That's just my experience. Sorry you hurt yourself!

Hello Jeremy and sweet Boomer 🐕❤ This is definitely a magical place you have set-up camp in.. Boomer new exactly where it was too .. About your CUT.. can you get EDP over there.. it's a ANTISEPTIC POWER with IODINE in it.. from ( pharmacy) just a little sprinkle of the powder on the wound is BRILLIANT.. no more pain.. just a helpful idea.. big hugs to BOOMER please .. wishing you both a wonderful weekend 🐕❤

I remember MARTY UP NORTH saying that starting fire with a lighter is the most efficient way if you have a hand or finger injury. Using a fire steel is definitely awesome and cool, but a lighter is a great back up. I love lakes when the water is like glass. The water is like a mirror.

At least add some gauze and disinfectant to your first aid kit. As for cutting wood like that, I like the method of holding the saw between your feet and knees and holding the wood with both hands. leaning over, and pulling/pushing the wood up and down. It's so fast and much less strenuous and safer, too.
@waynegunter5499Ай бұрын
Saw you had an accident with your saw. Carry a small tube of super glue with you. Squeeze the cut together and apply the glue over the top. In lieu of stitches this will work to seal the cut closed until you can get medical help. Use a bandaid or two to cover and protect.

Great video as usual and that's a very nice location. I'd love to see more from this place. Both hammock or tarp camp would be interesting for me. I´m sorry about your thumb. I´v also cut my thumb years ago with a bow saw, when I worked as a carpenter. After that incident I learned to always let my thumb rest on the top of the blade. It lessens the risk for the blade to jump and if it does, usually goes in the opposite direction from the hand that holds the wood, because of slight sideway pressure from the thumb. I hope that makes sense. I wish you a quick recovery

The way you were using that saw on knee is why you got cut. You should have a bigger log by camp to lay your smaller branches in when cutting. Also the best thing to bring for camping is liquid band-aid or super glue in your first aid kit..
@millermadewoodcraftsandmet9887Ай бұрын
I love that spot. I know you also like to build stuff. You mentioned that someone put those logs there to sit on close to the fire. Maybe you could make a bushcraft bench from those logs or other ones and then cook on the campfire on your new bench. 🤷♂️ Just an idea.

Boil some water and dissolve a lot of salt , when water warm, put. Your thumb inside and keep in for 5 mins, then dry and secure with plaster. And compress . I did that once on a remote island bad cut with bamboo. Kept wound clean. Still got scar 20 years later but wound was clean and healed

Also, you do have nice quality- expensive gear… Great for you!👍 Do you have any suggestions for cheap/ cheaper stuff that will do the job decently? Knives, stoves, tents, pads, sleeping bags, tools?
