He did not have to send it over. He was the second ball. He just should have jump set with his shoulders parallel to the net. Sending it over there was not a good idea.

Just to clarify, if a body part is above the top of the tape and you touch the ball, it is considered a block. If you're back row you cannot block the ball. The only other option if you don't want to consider it a 1st touch is to consider it an illegal block.
