Long Causeway by Off Road Mobility Scooter

Long Causeway gives a 5 mile (out & back) ramble from Redmires Reservoir on the outskirts of Sheffield to Dennis Knoll near Hathersage in the Peak District. A Category 2 ramble, it should be suitable for normal pavement scooters so long as they have enough ground clearance to negotiate the drains and good batteries to cope with the distance and gradient. This is an exposed mountain landscape so go prepared for bad weather.

the drainage channels are no longer passable on an ordinary mobility scooter. I have attempted the easy section, from Dennis Knoll to Stanedge Pole, but could only go about half way as the 1.5 drainage channel is strewn with sharp rocks. I considered laying a mat over the rocks to drive over but there's a risk of skidding off the track, not a good idea half way up to Stanage Edge I have raised this with the Peak District Park who say it has been accessible by an all terrain wheelchair and Trampers ( for the lucky few then).

Thats a shame. Weve got just as much right to explore as anyone. I was just thinking it may be a nice place to go :(

Sorry you couldn't complete the ramble. It's quite tricky even on a Tramper
