Two of my uncles were days away from being called up in the draft when the war ended. I asked them if they were scared, they said Not at all, because it was what all their friends and dad had done as well. Even if they died, why should they be treated special. Not all troops were treated like "shit", because warriors came home with pride and they would not allow that pride to be taken from them. Americans took pride in them!!!! I damn sure know they took pride in them. Understand that there was what was referred to as the "Domino theory" and it definately made sense at the time. And, who knows that our involvement in Viet Nam did not prevent it from happening or not? One thing is for sure, it did not happen.

Something is seriously wrong with anyone who signs up to join the US military knowing what we all know... well.. since... WW2. I had an uncle that went to Vietnam and he came back pretty messed up and jittery. He's an old man now and the jittery never went away, and he tries to drink the memories away with alcohol. He didn't want to fight poor strangers in their own country he had never met in his life and had no beef against... he was drafted. It warms my heart that millenials have watched enough war documentaries to say.. unlike previous generations... flat out no to the US military industrial complex.
