I’ve been reviving dried sphagnum moss for 25 years. It isn’t difficult given the right conditions. 😊 I’m sure you have a lot of comments on this topic already, but I don’t have time to read them. I really enjoy your videos. They remind me of my early experiences and experiments with plant care. I was very curious and creative just like you, and had a good time playing around with various growing options. Keep up your endeavors and enjoy them. Thank you for sharing your work. 😸✌️

how often do i have to water live sphagum moss?
@congma69502 жыл бұрын
I've revived dried sphagnum moss that I bought at home depot after watching that video. It worked for me, so I guess probably need to try more to find the right conditions. I put the dried sphagnum moss inside a salad box with closed lid on the window sill. I actually used my aquarium water to soak it and almost never open the lid again until I saw the revived ones.

Another testimonial! My sphagnum moss unexpectedly came to life recently with my Anthurium Crystallinum pot. It’s in a cloche and a greenhouse right now. I think the humidity and heat really helped Also i’m so jealous of your potting skills Benji! They always look so clean and nice while my plant are always just covered in soil lmaoo

Hi Benji just some advice sphagnum moss has limited nutrients so plants can absorb that nutrients very fast making sphagnum moss great for carnivorous plants but live sphagnum moss has nutrients like normal soil so the long term affects can affect your carnivorous plants growth.
@benjiplant2 жыл бұрын
good to know! i’m still pretty new to carnivorous plants, what other substrates would u recommend? I haven’t tried another growing medium yet so any insight would be much appreciated :) although idk if i’ll remove the live moss haha i love it too much

@@benjiplant the live sphagnum doesn't affect your carnivorous plants in a negative way. Some of them like sarracenia or drosera and also a lot of pinguiculas share their natural habitat with sphagnum.

I don’t know what harness you’re using for Theo, but as a dog trainer I recommend Brilliant K-9. Semi-custom fit and plain or patterned fabric. Slips on over the head, protects the chest band from cutting, and has a single magnetic snap. Fast and easy on and off. No copies need apply. My 25 lb dogs are collar trained but my husband prefers the harness. I’m not connected to the biz at all, just like it when I find a decent product actually engineered for function and comfort. These are working dog harnesses. Also, this was a nice, relaxing Sunday morning video. Thanks.

Ahhh I love your videos so much Benji! They’re so soothing to listen to and I appreciate the very candid talk about how you care for your plants. I’ve only recently gotten into spagnum moss since I started using it to propagate my Monstera Delisiosas which has SUCH amazing success. I didn’t realize there were sustainability concerns about it though. I’ll definitely be looking into most sustainable high quality sources. And I haven’t checked yet, but I hope if you haven’t created one that perhaps you’ll share some details regarding how you grow spagnum moss. And I was wondering what your thoughts are on algae / oceany (?) fertilizers? I was sooo scared of using synthetic fertilizer from when I first began caring for plants and I burnt some of them. But I haven’t had any issues with the kelpy/ algae based fertilizer. Also how are you getting your reverse osmosis water? From the store or do you perhaps have an in-home filtration system? Thank you again for creating such lovely videos. ✨

i always forgot what I need when I'm at plant stores which leads to me either buying something I don't need or having to make another trip back lol. Something I've been doing lately is walking around my house before I leave and taking a photo of the plant that needs a new pot, or the space that I'm planning to put a plant in. Then I refer to the photos while I'm shopping. And yes, the search bar is game changing!!! Especially when u have a ton of plants lol
