The M40 Motorway - the "London to Birmingham Motorway" runs for 89 miles (143km) from Uxbridge, just inside the M25, to the M42 motorway near Birmingham, via High Wycombe, Oxford, Banbury and Warwick, running through the Chilterns and Cherwell Valley.
The section from London to Oxford was opened in stages between 1967 and 1974. The completion of the motorway to the M42 near Birmingham was in 1991.
This video shows a northwest-bound journey along the M40 motorway - from Junction 10 for the A43 and Cherwell Valley Services, to the terminus of the road with the M42 Motorway near Birmingham.
