was at Jones Beach fishing yesterday. what fish are in Season from April until end of summer? new to surf fishing
@coolvid7 жыл бұрын
+Giovanni Messina ... mainly sought after for sport or table fare are fluke, striped bass, Bluefish, weakfish, porgy, winter flounder, and black sea bass. These are all regulated so they have size limits and how many fish you're allowed to take per day. Also, they have open and close seasons. There are also numerous species that are not regulated by NYS like sea robins, skate, blowfish, triggerfish, false albacore, etc. You can find all these fish during the warmer months, although winter flounder is up until end of May and they exit early.

what do you recommend as bait for these type of fish?
@coolvid7 жыл бұрын
+Giovanni Messina ... Bunker, clams, sandworns, squid, spearing, and bloodworms.

My Mojo is the Med/Mod- 3/4-4 oz. for the price range, it's a very good Rod for most of my lighter weight applications up to 2.5 oz. I will not go heavier though. Love to bucktail, light plugging and popping, also casts very well. The VS is...well, a VS, what else can I say 😄

Hey Tony, whats your setup on this video for the fishing gear?
@coolvid8 жыл бұрын
+Ivan Ferrous My setup on this particular day was a St Croix Mojo 10'6" 2pc 3/4-4oz Surf rod. Van Staal 200 - spooled with 50 lbs power pro slick 8 braid tied direct via Alberto Knot to 50 lbs Mono leader. Lure was a A17, red was getting all the attention.

How far are you casting?
@coolvid8 жыл бұрын
+Kev Z. I always cast as far as I'm able to for the first few casts just to cover a lot of ground. Doesn't necessarily mean all the fish are out there. Many times I'm half casting but for bluefish I tend to cast further out since my retrieve will almost always be on the fast side. This particular day I was casting about 80-100 yards.

Tony Hong Fishing no shot you are casting 100 yards

spot burning :-( while i know your intentions are good and you just want to help out other fisherman. it sucks for the guys that have put in the time to known this spot to return to fish here and find a bunch of newbies that just want to be pointed to where the fish are at getting thier lines tangled on yours and being less considerate of the people and environment around them. its part of the reason why the bays out west are always littered with empty plastic bags and discarded trash. i dont mean to come down on you i just dont want a beautiful spot ruined by folks who dont care. Nice video though looks like it was fun

what don't you explain what is going on in the video?who are the kids? are you one of those non-fish eating fisherman?
@coolvid6 жыл бұрын
Patrick Kendall ...I’ll try to answer your questions. 1. I’m fishing alone. 2. Kids and their parents are fishing too but they are not doing well. 3. I’m on the Bluefish consistently and asked if they wanted some. Normally do not offer my catch but it was a family with kids and thought they would like some fresh fish to eat. 4. I don’t like the taste of bluefish, and I release most of my striped bass if they’re in good shape, as I spend lots of money chasing them and enjoy striper fishing as a sport, I would hate to deplete their population. Everything else is fair game.
