Correction, the asynchronous pattern is 450 to 970 Hz. And that synchronous pattern on all Mitsubishi IGBT-VVVF inverters is always 3 pulses first, *then* 1 pulse.

Why do the M7’s make that hum noise on deceleration? I don’t think the M8 and M9 replicate the same sound on deceleration despite similar synch patterns

Probably because Bombardier and Kawasaki in this case do not use the same traction motors.

how do you connect the inductor to the breakout? the instructions are not very specific.

Insert the pins on the inductor through the respective holes in the breakout board, solder them in place, and then trim the pins of the inductor. I added some pictures for you to reference in the description. If you're not sure how to solder, search youtube for "through hole soldering" tutorials, there are lots of great videos out there.
