Highlights from one of the most exciting NEC broadcasts in recent memory as Long Island won the Battle of Brooklyn with an 82-80 win over St. Francis (NY) on February 12, 2011 at the Pope Center in Brooklyn, NY. The borough rivals fought tooth-and-nail in a game that featured 24 lead changes and 19 ties. It came down to the final possession. With the game tied, LIU guard C.J. Garner drove down the right side and hit a baseline runner that swished with 0.6 seconds left on the clock. Garner was named the Ruby Tuesday Player of the Game and was the recipient of the Lai-Lynch trophy, which is awarded to the MVP of the Battle of Brooklyn game. Garner, who finished with 12 points, is interviewed postgame. Julian Boyd added 19 for LIU, while St. Francis was led by Akeem Bennett's 21 points.
