It continues to amaze me that, when I was growing up, everyone said melanated women couldn't grow long hair unless they had "good" hair. Thank goodness for the internet and thank goodness for Master Stylists like Crystal! You have changed the definition of what so called good hair is. Good hair is hair that is loved and cared for by the women who take time to give their hair the right products. Thank you, Crystal! You educate and produce some kick ass hair so we can aspire to be the most beautiful women we can be!

A trim is necessary to retain healthy length. Also, the client asked for a trim so why wouldn’t the stylist get her shears 🤦🏽‍♀️
@--99
@--99 2 жыл бұрын
@@ashleyallen8094 I am a fully trained cosmetologist with below waist length hair. If hair is uneven then a trim will help it look neater but if it is damaged it's all up and thru the hair. A trim alone won't help only strategic repair will correct it. My problem is that when they ask for a trim they cut off too much. Every beautician is not at the same level. All my clients have long healthy hair except 1 but we're getting there.

Wow sounds like you care a lot to please your clients and to give them what they want. Also you provide them with great tips. Hun this is how you keep clients. However I haven't been to the salon every since I was 8 years old. My twin & I had very long hair and the styles burnt out our hair with a super precise perm instead of putting a just for me kit in our hair. Our hair was in the center of our back. After she destroyed our hair it never grew. My twin hair never grows pass her ear. Mines grow a little to my shoulders. That lady quicked her job the same day after damaging our hair. We are 39 yrs old today and my twin has low self-esteem. I mean it's very bad. Until this day we had never gone back to a salon again since that incident. Overall, Ms. I am proud of you for listening to your clients. You trimed her hair just like she asked. In my town they cut all of your hair off. This is why people started learning how to do their own hair or will go to a homegirl for a hair style. Keep up the good work and continue to listen to your clients. God will bring you more clients sooner than later. Be blessed my sister!

The flat iron is set to 465 degrees?? 😮 Human hair burns at the same temperature as paper: 451° F (233° C.) Hitting above this will melt your hair shaft, causing all sorts of problems like dryness, brittleness, and excess frizz.

I struggle TREMENDOUSLY with tangling. You defintely did a trim' and not a cut. I can't tell you how many of these videos I watch where it was declared a trim and walked away with 4 inches cut off that didn't need more than close to 2 inches. It cringes me to see people who worked so hard as black people we can have a harder time growing it because of manipulation and the stylist just does what they want for the sake of their video. My 3chair also wants to revert in two seconds. I like the summer but my hair hates it like Crips n Bloods. I literally can't do anything but braids for 3 1/2 months.

My hair is *not* “heat trained”. I press it every 12 to 24 months, sometimes even less frequently. Reversion is not a problem. Why? 1. Using a proper amount of an effective heat protectant. In my case, Tresemme. 2. Flat ironing my hair in *very* small sections. This will allow you to use minimal heat with maximum results. Your hair will be silkier and straighter. I, personally also like to use a thermal pressing comb on my roots, kitchen. and edges for a more finished, polished look. My hair was heat *damaged* by stylists at one time when I was going to the salon every 6 to 12 weeks for a press. Back then, my hair reverted quickly. It stayed ‘cute’ for about 3 days and stayed straight 2 weeks. Maybe. I use heat far less frequently yet my silk presses can last a month with no touch-ups. Hmmm.

Wait 👀 did she really just say " I can be scissor happy but know when not to be"!! Woooow!! That's exactly why her 👀 were following u like a hawk when trimming her ends (I do too more so with a new stylist that I've never been to before ) and you're the EXACT type of stylist I steer clear of AAAANND your statement "I know when not to be makes absolutely NO sense"🤔 there is NEVER a right time to be scissor happy in anyone's hair💯 being for me, scissor happy means cutting to much off, more than needed, more than client requested (if it's a hair cut) or more than discussed!! I mean I appreciate your honesty but damn🤦🏾‍♀️🙄

Maybe but it may also be that it just feels good to cut. I'm not a stylist but I love cutting my hair. It just...feels good. Sort of like how it might feel for a person that sucks there thumb or something. Maybe that's a bad example. I have a friend who is the same way. The sound of it, the feel of the scissors cutting the hair...lol. They call it asmr or something right??? I have to stay very disciplined to not cut my own hair. Poor me cause it would be so much longer.😆

I just got done finishing my hair. Untangling wasn’t too bad this time but putting it into a ponytail was a struggle. It’s so long I couldn’t get it all the way thru! I should of just used the RevAir but I was lazy today. Didn’t know about rinsing with cool water. Will try that next time. I do have the Babybliss too. I find this iron glides easy thru my hair and it doesn’t snag! My hair line is getting sparse too. My hair is so heavy I feel it pulling my head back doesn’t matter if it’s in a bun or braid. I definitely need a super trim!
