Hello everyone!
Charles here with Liquid Blue Cabarete and we are back in action with a long term ownership review of the F-ONE 7 SEAS Series...
After having this foil since its release it has been a great step up from the 1480/1280 phantom which it replaced. The 1480/1280 phantom was nice, agile though this 7Seas felt more agile, better speed, great pump ability and overall a pleasant upgrade from my phantom foil in a similar size.
I believe this foil is an excellent intermediate foil for both prone foiling as well winging and potentially in its smallest size as well a triple action foil for kiteboarding, surf prone foiling and winging.
If you were on the fence to getting one of these, it is a superb all around and a step up from most foils in terms of performance and it will handle all you throw at it as you progress in wing foiling. The next step up from this will the sk8 though more on that later in terms of testing and overall review.
Check out the entire review to know more and see how it has held up from one year of use in Cabarete.

Hey Peter! Charles here- the 1200 is superb- for us an all around foil both light and strong winds, small and big waves as well proving. I am waiting on an sk8 850 - will make initial video though also long term after further testing in more sports. If SK8 wasn't out I would have done 1000 7 Seas as next up grade.

Hello, Charles, great series, really looking forward to remaining models review! 🙂 Can you please advise on the foil quiver choice (models and sizes) for someone of 68kg with intermediate level (can do few different jibe variations, tacks, 360 turns, up to 3 meter jumps, and just started learning some basic air jibes atm, also can pump pretty well and do dock starts with 1700+ foils for 1-2 minutes)? Current equipment: Board: F-one Rocket 60l and 44l Wings 5'5 and 4'5 strike v2 Foil: Axis PNG 910 with AR 6.8 and area of ~1250 cm2 (with a short fuse) Local spot conditions (Mediterranean sea with mostly average small wind swell 1-2 feet, ~6s interval): 75% of wind days: 10-12 kt average 20% of wind days: 15-20 kt 5% of wind days: 20 ks For light wind days sessions I am looking for all-rounder that would be straightforward to water start, will turn nicely, and jump nicely if can glide a bit great (speed and glide are not the goal) For stronger wind days I was thinking about Sk8 (not sure which size yet) to be able also to use it for Prone Foiling (2-3 feet waves) (speed and glide are more a goal here, I guess there should be no problem jumping sk8 in 15 kts+ anyway) P.S: I've joined the sports mainly for the surfing aspect of winging (coming from a surf and kitesurf background) but often waves are small here so I decided to grow in freestyle a bit at least this year

Hey Bohdan, I hope I can help you with the information you provided. I feel like we have some similarities in how we do the sport and see it. The SK8 seems like it will cover what you are looking for across the sports though the exact size is a challenge because I do not know how the one I am receiving will compare. I am getting my hands on an 850 SK8 and weight 80 kgs (though generally ride small equipment for my size like Yanik who is in the team here and is your weight 68-70kg. though what I have seen is that the 1000 7Seas looks like a great all around foil though if you can go SK8 then I believe this is the best move. The SK8 would be the 850 or 950 most likely for "all around" normal winds and normal waves. Foil Mast I would be around 85 if your spot allows. Bigger is to long and smaller is also to short. I see your most common is light winds so depending on how you pump you can get away with a smaller foil though if you don't want to work or struggle just going a little bit bigger 950/1050. Remember when scaling you must consider your board volume, foil size and wing size. If you ride bigger wings you can probably ride smaller board and smaller foil. If you ride larger board volume you can ride smaller wing and smaller foil... etc... Trying before buying is a nice help though might not be possible I know some riders who are going a small size and a normal size. For example the 650 combo with an 850. I will as mentioned try the 850 and scale from there... Our average conditions are ~15+/- knots and I ride 33L for waves/prone / 44L for freestyle - some ocean shop and most common size 5m though fortunately have various wings to choose so sometimes will scale down to 4.5 and sometimes up 5.5/6 rarely take out the 7m. Hope this was not to confusing and you can extract something useful. An SK8 combo for you might work... 750 and 1050 for example. Need to wait for more reviews to see how it holds up. My 1200 7Seas has been great as well the 990 eagle for all around (light till strong winds no problem. 940S Phantom definetly need 15-18 knots+ solid to be comfortable to not have to work hard to get foil up and out. @@charlesosterlund7303 Thank you Charles for putting the efforts into helping me. I had a chat with a people at local spot who have 2-3 years of experience and most mentioned that in our marginal conditions of 10-12 kt, its really hard to flight with 1000 cm2 unless its really high aspect. So for now I was debating on having one Seven Seas 1200 to cover 10-15 knots, and then once SK8 will be more available to the public decide on which size to pick up. Looking forward for your upcoming reviews and best of luck with the channel! ♥🤙

@@bohdanafanasyev3642 exactly the 1200 7Seas is a great all around. Depending how you scale your gear and how much your willing to work will affect posible set ups. You will enjoy the 1200. I know I have and continue to.

Very nice review, Charles. What would you recommend to someone who has a 1200 and wants a two wing quiver for the Gorge. Is the 1000 too close in a two wing quiver? How about the Eagle 990 or 890 as the next wing down?
@charlesosterlund7303
@charlesosterlund7303 Жыл бұрын
Hey Friz! For me and I believe for you at Gorge would think of it as everyday wind foil and medium/strong wind foil. I was doing this season 990 Eagle with 1200 7Seas. It is a close combo so having an 890 eagle or even 790 could have been a wider range and difference. I didn’t get to test how low a 1000 7Seas could ride as I would want a foil that I can ride comfortably in 12-18 knots and another 15-25 knots on my 33L board. Since I also Prone I must consider that the 12-18 is prone able as well. 1200 + 890 might be superb. Though now the SK8 is coming out so I hope if it’s as i imagine I’ll have two SK8 one for everyday and one for stronger winds. Thinking if it will be 950 and 750 or 850 and 650…. We have an 850 coming down which should give us an idea of what will work for us here. I’ll make a video about it though for wave riding and free style the sk8 seems to be an awesome performance all arounder.

I'm pretty sure those fences are designed to prevent ventilation during wing tip breaches. Which foil is better for free racing in terms of stability and speed?
@charlesosterlund7303
@charlesosterlund7303 Жыл бұрын
It has some effect though I believe minimal. The speed and stability comes with both the eagle and the seven seas though eagle you can get smaller sizes and faster. Both are stable at their natural speeds. In terms of overall sevenseas more complete overall- keep an eye out for sk8 should be the ultimate wing.

Hi, beginner of 75kg with Phantom 1280 only here. Aim is to ride 15-20 knots wind with 5m Strike V2 wing, 90L board. I notice that when wind kinda drops, i can't pump it enough to start. So perhaps i need a bigger foil, looking at 7Seas 1400 or Phantom 1780. As i understood through reviews that e.g. 7Seas 1400 is way better that Phantom 1480, so leaving 1480 out. Aim is to ride chop/waves. What would be your advice here? Since just by numbers i see a small area difference between Phantom 1280 and 7Seas 1400 (but also considering that aspect matters), or i should just go bigger with 1780. Thank you
@lbcabarete
@lbcabarete Жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, if you are riding primarily 15-20 knots then the 1400 should be a great step up from the 1280 phantom... The 1400 7seas is probably around a 1450-1550+ in terms of phantom lift... I believe the 1780 would be overkill unless you're riding small low power waves, riding slower, ultra light wind the 1780 could be considered.... That is my 2cents mike- Charles here -> let me know how it goes.
@mikemiller774
@mikemiller774 Жыл бұрын
@@lbcabarete Thanks Charles, i also lean towards 7Seas 1400, since i really don't plan any very low wind rides, unless wind just goes down during proper wind riding. And waves/chop at my spots are wind generated.

@@mikemiller774 Sounds like you got your answer! Looks like the 1400 7Seas is in stock in USA. If you need one shipped out to you just let me know and can help get one in your hands Mike! I am also on same page of not trying to push the ultra ultra light side of the sport so I gear myself to 12 knots+ and been able to get away with riding a 1200 though 1400 is a more sure bet. I do tailor a larger wing though in combination which compensates/adds to power.

I dont know your Weight, but 7sea 1250 is way more boring in turn and surf than 940s, i am 70kg I only use only in 10 Gust 15 wing with 6m Next i will get 750 for overhead powerfull wave Flat fat wave 7sea ok , but If hollow 1m even 940 better
