Givi makes outstanding engine guards for this bike. They're also great for mounting additional lighting and highway pegs.... very comfy. Also, powder coated so no rust.
@MotoRiderTube6 жыл бұрын
They're huge, look like scaffolding in a construction site.

If you like these crash bars, aside from the rusting issue, maybe consider getting these ones powder coated. Then they will have a new rust free finish, and can go on the new Tracer GT. Powder coating will also be cheaper than buying new crash guards.

SW-Motech has just released a set of crashbars for the Tracer 900 GT. A bit more expensive, but I'll be ordering a pair once the bike is delivered (I'm in Canada)

Need to check those out, I heard now of SW-Motech and Heed. I'll study the topic in more detail in the coming weeks.
@GLouverd6 жыл бұрын
SW MOTECH are not even new, they exist from 2015 and they dont provide miguel the kind of protection you need. they protect the upper part and the side fairings. SW MOTECH has Engine Case Protector for the left side only of the bike (not even a slider).... the only ones that provide the protection you need is FEHLING, HEED (polish), CRAZY IRON (russian) and of course the american HIGDONION

Will do, let me know what motocam you decide to buy.

Just watched the video from Bryan (TwoWheelsObsession) and that camera has a pretty low quality. I'm afraid of yours having the same level, which is not good enough for me. This fear has kept me away from dashcams so far.

Well, i just got them and are about to start mounting (using your vid as well as MotoAndy's once for guidance). Wonder if I should spray them a little extra, e.g. in the "corners" (as I just black-sprayed the bolts, same like u did). But then, the diff in paint might be "visible", though not sure with the naked eye yes or no ... BTW thanks for all the MT-09 vids, I just got the 2015 MT-09 Tracer three weeks ago, with only 6.5k on the clocks. And yes, I'm also in the south of the Netherlands, in Brabant.

I don't know what to say to help you prevent the rust. I was kind of hoping it was my unit that was defective but I've seen other complains about this in the meantime. This also seems to be a problem in Givi crash bars so maybe it's unavoidable?

I wrote a mail to Fehling asking what their warranty policy is. I will wait for the reply & then decide to buy or not.

I don't believe it's more than the mandatory two years, but let us know what they respond!

How is riding with the protection? Any problems with your feet to touch it?
@MotoRiderTube5 жыл бұрын
No problem at all. You can stretch your legs and rest them on top of the protection, on long rides.

The rusting is only near the welds. This is where metal is weaker, both mechanical and corrosion wise. Also this is where the surface is rough so degreasing before paint is more important. To repair small rusty spots, buy a product like Noverox rust inhibitor.
@Overland4All0016 жыл бұрын
Man, I bet the warranty on that part just expired !! I personally think, that the Tracer has to much vibrations , and the after market manufacturers didn't calculate that, so wherever there is a joint, it cracks and rusts ... also, there are many metal particles running around ... in the enough amount to provoque hits on that paint job that later will rust too ... I doubt that any manufacturer would apply a warranty on that part, unfortunately, of course !! Nice video. Keep up. Abraço ... havias de ter a minha Kelly, ahahaha, ferrugem é um assunto que deixei de ligar, ahahahah !! Cheers

I don't think the Tracer vibrates more than normal

I have a 2017 Tracer and it doesn't vibrate at all. Love this bike!

The quality of the one I bought is much better than Bryans but as he says it does what it's designed to record an accident/ event from front or rear. I just let mine run in the background hoping I never have to use it just like the crash bars. Did you look at the Innovv camera?
@frankstocker54756 жыл бұрын
What does Fehling say about this? it's obviously a manufacturing fault similar to the rear shock Yamaha replaced for you.
@MotoRiderTube6 жыл бұрын
They probably say "thank you for giving us money"

I have also had Fehling bars on my CBF600.. Not impressed by these crashbars. because of the rust-spots appearing. At my bars the paint started flaking off on the sides. Even if riding in rain and salt this should not happen.
@montventourist5 жыл бұрын
@ critical rider: which crash bars have you installed on your new Tracer? I’ve just purchased a 2019 Tracer GT, and it needs some protection IMO: for now I’m considering Givi’s new TN2139...

Did you ever use ACF50 or another anti-rust agent after a wash?
@MotoRiderTube6 жыл бұрын
No. Isn't that for when you ride in salted roads in the winter?
@threethrushes6 жыл бұрын
Critical Rider I ride in central Europe in all weathers and seasons (!) and have just started to use ACF50 based on The Missenden Flyer and some other recommendations. He has an aviation background and is well aquainted with the product. I am glad to be using it, and it's part of my washing routine.
@MotoRiderTube6 жыл бұрын
I follow The Missenden Flyer and I thought about testing this ACF50. However, it all comes down to the faf: why the f.ck would I have to spend hours upon hours to protect the bike against something that should be protected from factory?!
@threethrushes6 жыл бұрын
Critical Rider My guess is that you take pride in your bike.

Not clear if they will fit the Tracer 2018/2019 GT: only Tracer model number RN43 is mentioned: www.fehling.de/index.php?content=preise&markenid=12&lang=eng ...

might not have been properly treated before painting? after all underside of cars often have 5 or even 10 year warranty against normal use roads corrosion! why not these parts, as they are similar in the fact they catch crud and water can cling to all the corners and so on! so I would think they should be well treated and primed before painted to eliminate corrosion and lacquered after the last coat of paint as a further guard! any ferrous based alloy or grade of pure steel should! why not write to the maker, instead of emailing or phoning? actually paper and pen them lol? good luck, enjoy the new bike! ride safe!
@MotoRiderTube6 жыл бұрын
I'd rather publish a video showing their lack of quality. Maybe they understand when it hits their bottom line...
@tooresttrikie67446 жыл бұрын
yes perhaps! but I'm just saying the technology is there, to make equipment more resistant! and its constructive complaints that have made manufacturers of any goods we all use (not just motorcycles) more reliable and better in quality! otherwise fridges, TVs and bikes etc would break down days after we buy them! just saying though good luck, ride safe!
