I really don't know how this guy doesn't have thousands of followers. He's got great content and a lot of focus on great Canadian music. Keep it up man!

Omg. Robert. Stumbled across this video Looking for some hip tunes. You taught me guitar at Sniders on Yonge St. back in the early/ mid 80’s. Great to see you still at it!!!

THANKS MAN!!! Beginner at 51 and looking forward to trying THIS! This band is responsible for tunes that spoke to and for my soul! Just the BEST to me and will always be a part of my life and really ME, have been since late 1989. Thankful for them joining my existence and ROCKIN it so many times. Even in my hometown during the Another Roadside Attraction! Also a GREAT BOOK! I'm sure Sissy hitched to a Hip show or two

Robert! You gave me my first guitar lesson at Snider's back in late 80s. Also when I asked what guitar I should buy when I wanted to upgrade you said 'get cedar topped Takamine N10 and you'll never look back'...still play it in 2018 with an M1 pickup slotted in there...much like what I see you playing in this video. Good to see you are still sharing your knowledge.

Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate the feedback. If you have a moment check out my robertlabellyoutube channel. I have a lot more material on there. A number of things that I have not done tutorials on because they are out of the mainstream.

Really wish you could do a tutorial of the solo.

You have such an easy-going way of teaching. You make the occasional mistake, correct then move on. You seem to understand how non-professionals learn and play, and it's incredibly helpful. Thank You! alot of the Hip music isn't available anymore (earlier stuff) so your tutorials and transcriptions are manna from heaven. Have you ever done any rough work on It's A Good Life if you Don't Weaken? I watch the video over and over and see the finger picking, but have such a problem transposing the notes because I suspect the arrangement is done in a weird tuning like they have done in the past. As always, much appreciated.

Hi Robert. Thank You for the feedback, it is much appreciated. I have never done a transcription of "it,s a Good Life if you Don't Weaken". Due to circumstances beyond my control the Instructional videos were put on hold temporarily. We will be doing more this coming Autumn, I also have some time restrictions because of Concerts that we have booked . I did a number of those transcriptions before the Tab Books were even published. People who were studying with me would walk in with a Tragically Hip cassette tape or CD and ask "can we learn this"? I saw them at The Horseshoe. LOL!

So can I ask without seeming too novice...its in 6/8 time yeah? The arpeggios are in groups of three per chord so....
@robertlabell6 жыл бұрын
Yes , that is correct. It is in 6/8 time. Or 4/4 time using triplets. It depends on who is doing the transcription. Accommodating the player or the page. An ongoing discussion.

Excellent lesson .... Grace too please !

Thank you for tuning in. I will do Grace Too. Try to keep in mind that I do tutorials on songs that hold together as solo pieces. Grace too is a terrific song that has acoustic Guitar overdubs in standard tuning. However , that is no excuse. I will do a tutorial.Thank you for tuning in.

Intro is close, just a couple if notes off. 6/10 lesson. It gives the basics and you should be able to figure out the rest on your own.
