You are doing a great job. But there are two errors. Alif as a long vowel doesn’t have hamzah on its top. Otherwise it will represent hamzatu-qat’e. The word (الكتاب) you mentioned in the sentence takes kasrah underneath ba instead of fat-hah because it’s preceded by a preposition. Please if you can correct these two mistakes, that would be great.

How to do you ‘stop’ on long vowels? What happens to a reverse dhamma, and standing fattah and kasra when we pause or stop? Please explain
@pinkoop62464 жыл бұрын
You put a small hamza on alif in the beginning. Why? As per my understanding, it's not alif anymore when it carries a hamza on top
@aliyanimran30944 ай бұрын
Because when Alif is left on its own, it becomes a Long Vowel (Like this: ا, which means "aa" in English). But adding a Hamza on Alif makes it a consonant, which makes it a short vowel when Fathah is put on top of it(Like this: أ, which is just "a" in English). However when Hamza Alif is left on its own, it becomes a Sukun, meaning no short or long vowel-and no Fathah, Kasrah, or Dammag-on top of it and you will only pronounce it how it is (For example, "ba" has no "a" in it, so its only "b," or "buh" if you say it phonetically. So Hamza Alif, on its own becomes "أ," or "a`" in English, since Hamza, "ء" or "`," is a glottal stop, which means you will stop making sounds with your vocal cords after pronouncing the Alif "ا" portion; an example of pronouncing/stopping at Hamza "ء," or "`," is same as saying "Uh`-oh" with the "`" glottal stop meaning stopping sounds with your vocal cords).

Hi, I’m wondering why kataba is not pronounced as Katab when there is a sukoon in ba. Thank you for your amazing video! 🙏
@Arabic1014 жыл бұрын
Hello there, In Arabic when you stop at a word, the last short vowel (tashkeel) of the word you're stopping at is dropped, and you are only left with the consonant. so you can see it written like كَتَبَ and you'll hear كَتَبْ ... But in the beginning (which I recommend) we will still pronounce every single short vowel (tashkeel) stopping or not, so that you'll get the hang of it. But since you asked ;), that was the answer, hope it was helpful.

Yes. When it comes to reciting the Quran, you should follow the tajweed rules .. If you take the courses in the correct order, you will learn that skill in the context of the Quran in shaa Allah at the right time. Generally, long vowels should be two counts.. or twice as long as short vowels.

There is indeed a fat'ha on top of the shaddah, but because these lessons are for absolute beginners, I try not to give many things that would otherwise be confusing for someone who's taking their first steps in Arabic, and then step by step information are added, until you have the complete picture. Getting everything in one go, can be frustrating and scary for many learners.

Thank you very much for your feedback .. This video is meant for absolute beginners. My method in teaching is to give bits of information one at a time especially for basics of Arabic which is known to have so many different rules and exceptions. So the issue you referred to is explained in later videos that go a bit deeper in detail. In my opinion, learners should get the information they need at the time, not all the information. Otherwise, it might drive people away from learning the language especially in the earliest stages. May Allah forgive us all .. and please brother/ sister, keep the feedback coming since it opens up nice discussions, and I can certainly learn from it. Asslamo alikom.
