I can cruise well, but I bought the same board as you to learn tricks. I got the complete with a separate set of ABEC 9 ceramic bearings, which I later put in. So I can relate to learning pivots and crossovers, as you were in this video. Fun, the whole time!

Review: I first got the idea of buying a Dancer Magneto board after deciding I wanted a separate board for cruising (the one I had was a regular skateboard for technical skating). At first glance I was really drawn to the design of the magneto board. I liked the simplistic design with the maple wood and long deck. I wasn't really sure if the board would fit me but after a day I decided to buy it anyway. When the board came I was really surprised by how big it was. I mean I had read the descriptions online but still, I was a bit of a shocker actually seeing it. On first impressions, the deck had a nice flex to it. I was a bit worried about the lack of grip tape before buying it but these feelings were alleviated once I got the board. When I took it for a ride, however, there were some things that I immediately noticed. It took a lot more effort to push the board than I had thought. The biggest reason why I bought the board was to have smoother rides but I actually found it much harder to cruise on flat ground compared to riding my regular deck with bones rough rider wheels. The other thing is that due to its enormous size, the board is pretty impractical in the city. I guess it's my fault for not realizing this before I bought the board but it was still pretty disappointing. After doing some research I found out that the wheels and bearings that came with the board were actually pretty trash. I am currently saving up money to buy some orangutan wheels and reds bearings, but I am not even sure if it's worth it. Considering how much I paid for this board ($140) and how much more I would have to pay to make the board more functional, I am pretty disappointed. The $70 Quest board that I got from Walmart was better than this. If you live in a city and are looking for a quality board, I wouldn't recommend this one. Look for some cheaper alternatives or save your money and get a better quality longboard. Overall I would give this board a maximum rating of 6/10.

I am almost 40 and just now getting into longboarding (with my 8 year old son who has a kid's cruiser board). I set my Magneto Bamboo drop through 9"x42" cruiser board with Gullwing Charger 9" 50 degree trucks (with whatever bushings they came with), Blood Orange Morgan Pro 82a wheels and Grizzly Abec 9 bearings. My hope was to have a cruiser that I might be able to learn small slides with to goof off as I'm riding. Any thoughts on this setup based on my philosophy of use? Thanks!

It depends on how you plan to ride. If you want to do tricks, get the dancer. If you want to cruise, the bamboo cruiser is smooth. I commute on the Cruiser. If you like carving it up, the have a bamboo carver that is a bit smaller that is a blast for that style of riding

It looks like your in the Bay Area. I have dancer longboard as well, which wheels did they give you. Your longboard was a complete I’m guessing. I bought the parts individually and built mine. I liked the parking lot you rode on, and you can tell it’s on a hill, since to picked up speed very quickly. There’s a locations I would like to ride through. It’s between two rows of fairly new tech company towers. Just a small suggestion to wifey, make sure you move your front foot from the toes pointing forward to pointing to the side once your traveling, to make carving and turning easier. You probably already do it, but I didn’t see it on this video. Can you tell me where you got your protective gear? The ones I have feeling like they were made to big kids, not adults. Caution: don’t skateboard with a backpack the added weight can throw you off your board and much harder to the ground, if you accidentally an unseen object.
