Not my video, saw on Facebook, but couldn't find it on KZbin.
Absolutely insane longboarding down the Bombay Hills, the main highway heading south out of Auckland.

@RepresentinDa614 we do have some longboarders here in Vancouver Canada but skateboards and skateboard parks are the big thing here, only wish they'd put up a couple of indoor rinks as we do have alot of wet weather here (Vancouver Canada). A most popular place for longboarding is the stanley park sea-wall, approx 7 kilo's around it also attracts bicycles galore, skateboarders, joggers and tons of people. thx4 postin'

@Anthraix Arbor and Sectors are good for starters. It dependes what kind of longboarding you want to do, The longer and thicker the board is the more stable it will be at speed while the shorter ones are good for cruising. i always wear lingsleaves and a thick pear of shoes. Up to you weather you want a helmet.

this has literally been going on for years down that hill... i have mates that still do it from time to time.. Longboards are made for excessive speeds, the long platform and the wide-set (and fat) wheels create more stabilty than most would think.. not to mention they are made to just roll over small stones/cracks that are on the road. (obviously if u were new to riding, you wouldn't handle these speeds, but with training this is perfectly safe to do. ..the key is to stay left on the roadsde!

Smart guy, he drafted behind the truck so air wouldent slow him down, that's how he went faster all if a sudden. Scary shit bro..wish I could do the same on my longboard

@Andrewchapman30. I live in Auckland and drive this hill all the time. When I saw this on front page of herald and the six o clock and the pc brigade jumping up and down loved it. You guys are awesome and this was a top effort. Yep you were doing at least 100kph looking at the time elapsed. No laws broken either.

@saltydog45 So what are we supposed to do until we get a legal place to practice our sport while not competing? I don't see any problem with what these guys did, they were all in control of their boards and bodies and were matching the traffic's speed.

@camjenkins88 Actually, we practice by skating on open public roads, as we are permitted to do by the Land Transport Act 1998. Regarding safety and following your logic, if a motorcyclist falls off and forces a car to swerve and crash, should we ban them from the road too? How about cyclists? What about drivers who don't check their mirrors before changing lanes and cause crashes? Should we ban everyone from the road who could potentially cause any sort of crash?

@camjenkins88 This aint a motorway, so we're allowed on it. Once again, people completely miss my point - if a motorcyclist comes off his bike, he will force traffic to swerve to avoid him, potentially causing crashes, just like if a skater comes off their board, so why treat us differently? We can stop better than motorbikes, steer just as well at speed as a motorbike, and we voluntarily make sure our boards are safe before we go for a run, cos we don't actually want to crash.

@LostShadows91 As just a human and a board, you have significantly less momentum than a bike or car, so if you know what you're doing, you can use friction and stop faster than a car could at the same speed. I know because I've done it.

@Savioursun My point is that it wasn't as dangerous as it looked. You're going on about how it was putting other motorists at risk when there was only one motorist at risk. And that was a big fuck-off truck. Somehow i doubt that a truck is going to be pushed off the road by a guy on a longboard.
