The weak link in this engine was the straight cut bevel gears I started with not up to the task. The spiral cut bevel gears have more capacity by design along with a greater tooth count helped solve the issue.

Most impressive - congratulations. May I ask if you pre-lubricate cylinders or is it ok running a while without?

Thanks Micro... All of my engines are of open crankshaft design with roller bearings or Oilite bushings but the pistons and cylinders need an oil lube. These engines use Naptha fuel, otherwise known and camp fuel or Coleman lantern fuel as well as white gas. WD40 is blended in at a 5% ratio to cover the cylinder and piston needs. They will run on a gasoline/ oil mix.....but the exhaust is real stinky then.
