mel schneed Thanks. Anything that makes raspberries last longer, they are my favorite and seem the most fragile.

I would recommend drying the berries on a towel and patting them with a paper towel prior to putting them back in the container. Moisture is NOT their friend!

After I wash my berries I spread them out on a plate and let the fan dry them for about an hour or until they are thoroughly dried.

I wash my grapes, blueberries, apples and pears with water and baking soda, it helps get the film off the fruit. Then I'll do the vinegar rinse.. I would advise not washing soft fruits with the baking soda it turns them slightly brown... 🍎🍇🍑🍓🍐🍉

Interesting techniques, Bj. I have never tried the baking soda wash, but like the idea of removing the film from the surface of fruits. What amounts of baking soda and water do you recommend?

@@AlaskaGranny For grapes I will usually give the a quick wash with water, then just a dusting of baking soda directly to fruit, maybe a tablespoon or two for a large bowl of grapes, and let them sit for a couple of minutes. Then rinse well with water! This will apply to apples, blueberries and pears as well if you want. It seems to remove the film better to me, but you can just soak them in a water baking soda solution.. 4 cups water / 1 tablespoon baking soda.

how does this not leave a slight vinegar smell/taste on them?

It just doesn't, and it truly makes them last longer. Trust me, try it!

They taste like yummy berries. Days later, if you don't eat them all at once, they are still super fresh.
