Heavier bats are harder to get the bat speed on. If you wanted to tell me he really got ahold of one and hit it 500, I'd be more inclined to believe it. I love how Reggie Jackson flung the bat after his swing he knew it was crushed the second he made contact
@gregbaker98572 жыл бұрын
Ya, it kinda works that way, no resistance off the bat just a smooth fluidity throughout the swing. Same feeling when you hit a golf ball on the proverbial screws, hardly feel the contact through the hands.

Mickey Mantle hit many home runs longer than what you see here-over 600 feet a couple of times. Also had the fastest Home to First speed time ever-3.1 seconds-since tied by Vince Coleman. The best player to come up I have ever seen since was Bo Jackson-he had it all-but broke his hip playing football, and that was his demise.
@markedwards59046 жыл бұрын
Jackson was a roided joke. that's why he broke his hip just running. hate him big time, not that good but U understand how a lot of folks need someone to think about when they jerk off, why not a poster and use his jersey?

At one time, Stargell held the record for the longest home runs in nearly half of the NL parks. I was fortunate enough to watch his blasts. He made it look so effortlessly. I know he hit many over 500 feet and they marked most of the seats with an S. In 1978, against Wayne Twitchell of the Montreal Expos, Stargell hit the only fair ball ever to reach the club deck of Olympic Stadium. The seat where the ball landed (the home run was measured at 535 feet) was replaced with a yellow seat, while the other seats in the upper deck are red. Upon the Expos departure in 2004, the seat was removed and sent to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

In college I hit one that was close to 600 ft. The fence was 440, it cleared the parking lot behind that and hit a shed in a residential yard. But I was using an aluminum bat and the pitcher was consistantly hitting mid 90's. I honestly lost it off the bat and 2nd base umpire told me to round the bags. True story.

The Galarraga grand slam at #6 was originally and far more accurately measured at about 575 feet. But they couldn't stand a minority player from a team that was in its 5 season beating a legend like Mantle so they pussed out.

Now everyone wants to discount it with BS statcast or whatever.

Thank you for mentioning this one. I was at that game and when it left the bat there wasn't much pf a reaction because it was so high it looked like a routine fly out-but it kept going. After it hit the crowd still didn't react for a few seconds like they couldn't believe it. I think that was also Piazza's first game as Marlin although he didn't play. A week later he was traded, lol.

The longest HR I ever saw at Fenway was Manny. Not the one seen here, but a towering shot over everything in left. It took one big hop in the parking lot across the street and landed at the RR tracks that run next to the Mass Pike.
@nathanwilliams215211 ай бұрын
I saw a shot similar to that in 2004 - when Troy Glaus hit the Coke bottle sign in left, but it was still rising when it hit the sign. Glaus had a beautiful swing, shame he didn’t stay healthy. I still remember Chris “Boomer” Berman’s call - “He’s not disgusted with this! Absolutely belted, GONE!!” Loved Boomer’s calls.

Obviously this was done by someone that has never seen a baseball game pre-1980 or so (with the exception of the Reggie Jackson clip). Mickey Mantle hit a home run that was measured at 565 feet. Harmon Killebrew of the Twins and Frank Howard of the Senators both hit many tape-measure shots in their illustrious careers that would dwarf some of these home runs.
@blainecole54526 жыл бұрын
Frank Howard was a childhood hero of mine. He is credited with a number of home runs measuring over 500 feet. One was estimated at 560'.

Blaine Cole I had to laugh at I think it was Harry Carays comments deriding then owner Griffith about him having to replace all the seats in the upper deck (some 480') in WA that Howard "destroyed" The very sight of him at the plate was something..I think he still is the tallest and biggest position player in MLB

Mickey is generally accepted as the player who hit the longest home runs in history. The one he hit off the facade at Yankee Stadium was still on the way up when he hit it and was attested to by many witnesses in the stands and on the opposing team. I was estimated it would lave landed somewhere around 700 feet from home plate. His most talked about home run was his 565ft drive over the left center field bleachers at Griffith Stadium. Mickey relied on his coal miners strength - not steroids.

rockstarcrossing I will never hate on anyone for taking steroids, saying someone does them is not hating. All of the guys in this video if not all of them were on steroids or some sort of PED. I can’t think of a single physical sport where the top guys are not taking steroids or PEDs(performance-enhancing drugs), it would be stupid not to you were trying to be the best in the world you were doing everything you can to be the best in the world it is such a big advantage that every single top pro in a physical sport is taking them
