The longest home run hit in Major League Baseball is a 634-foot blast by Mickey Mantle for the New York Yankees against the Detroit Tigers at Briggs Stadium in Detroit, Michigan on September 10, 1960. Mantle's home run is officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest hit in baseball.

Cecil Fielder hit one on the roof at Tiger Stadium. McGwire and Canseco I’m sure hit homers longer than some of these. I distinctly remember one McGwire hit with the Cardinals in 1998 in Busch Stadium that nearly hit the Coca-Cola sign beyond the hitting background in center field. Andres Galaraga hit one nearly out of Coors Field.

There are so many other majestic home runs that you’ve missed. I swear I’ve heard Big Mac and Sosa hitting a few over 500 ft back in the late 90’s. Also, Vlad Guerrero and Willy Mo Pena both hitting one just over 500 ft. Then there was Cecil Fielder. Who hit (at least) one on top of the roof in Tiger Stadium. I don’t remember what the stat on that one was. But to go over the stadium ROOF must mean that it had to of travelled at least over 500 ft.

That shohei home run was clearly over estimated. It wasn't even really close either. Look at what the distance is where it went over and tell me how that's 130 feet over the fence. It was only about 25 rows up 25x3.5 feet is about 85 feet which would make it about 460 feet maximum. I don't know where they got 493. The Acuna was a lot clearer. It cleared a 395 foot fence and went over the bleachers. You can see that it was at least close to 495

Yeah; I don’t believe his ball went that far with Babe Ruth. No one recorded incident; and how they measure it? There’s a lot of what ifs? And does a ball hitting concrete and bouncing count? Or is it air time only. I would say can only count the ones where ball lands first; not the roll away.
