One time I officiated a softball game in a tournament and 11 or 12 batters in a row hit home runs. We were in an open field and batters would point in the direction that they were going to hit the ball and then hit it over the outfields head or too far infield for them to catch it.

Played Florida Senior Softball for years. Occasional home run. Then a decision was made to go from .47 COR balls to .40 COR balls. The big young slow pitch guys were using .50 COR balls. For some reason, guys that weigh over 250 lbs, hit more home runs. Nice to see the Space Coast USSSA stadium completed. Maybe there will be an over 80 tournament.

I think the fact that it is slow pitch so the pitcher is not providing any of the power therefore it is all up to the hitter. A guy like Altuve at 5'5"ish 155 would never hit as many home runs as the big guys in slow pitch softball even though he has 17 at the all-star break this year.

It actually is similar to baseball in that you need to swing at a strike. If you swing at bad pitches you lose a 100 points on your onbase percentage which the goal is to be on 700. The only way to get to 700 is swing at good pitches and be willing to walk. Sometimes that results in a k

What's with all the faking pitches? I'm just a recreational player, but I've never seen anyone faked out or have their timing thrown off. Of course that would mess you up in baseball or fastpitch, but a slow pitch ball comes too slow to really do much with it. I never understood the pitcher trying to fake out the hitter with not throwing the ball... 1st time I saw it as a hitter I was really confused. I took the 1st pitch cuz I didn't know what the hell was going on. The next pitch I crushed. He kept doing it my next ABs, so every time I smoked the ball back up the middle right at him. Ended up with at least a double every time. The last time he yelled at me while I was on 2nd. I told him stop pitching like a retard and just throw the ball. He made some comment about me not knowing the game. My brother hit after me in the order, so when he came up I told him, "just go deep off this loser right here." The pitcher gave me a dirty ass look. He was even more pissed when my brother pimped the shit outta the rocket he hit on the 1st pitch... We didn't get to hit again since that inning ended with us winning by mercy...
