As a UK citizen. I’m ashamed to say how awful our train systems are compared to Japans. We have dirty trains, they don’t always run on time and have so many rude and noisy people on them too In Japan everything and everywhere is spotlessly clean. There is no rubbish or litter on the floor or platforms, the trains are spotlesss outside and gleam with paintwork and class. It’s so so quiet too. Everybody respects each other’s space. This guy has a great sense of humour which is refreshing on a journey such as this when there’s no talking. Still those bullet trains are impressive, they obviously leave dead on time too. Both meals looked good too. I bet he took everything and put his rubbish straight into a bin aswell. Total respect and admiration for this country’s manners 👍🏻👏🏻

Some 15 years ago, I took the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. I couldn't figure out where the train was but people were very kind and pointed me to it. I had a seat in a car completely empty. The thing flashed by homes and rice paddies. I noted the great variety of greens there are in Japan. Loved the ride. On the way back, I decided to save a few bucks and bought a cheaper train only to find it stopping at every hamlet and town. I decided to pay for the Shinkansen but had to get off, take another commuter milk run, but finally got the train on the East coast of Japan. The moral of the story: don't be cheap. Pay the fare and enjoy.

@@phoenix1453 Enjoyment of cityscapes are subjective. I haven't been to Barcelona or Paris personally, but they look amazing and are places I'd love to visit one day. Is Tokyo boring to me? Not at all! The metropolis that houses a multitude of districts all with their own distinct vibes, it's amazing! The energy difference between Harajuku and Shinjuku for example... Is addictive. It allows you to seek the experience your crave. Do you have this kind of experience in other cities? I can say for certain, it's sure possible! I've felt it in Hong Kong, Seoul, my home town Melbourne and even Singapore... But that's the extent to my experience so far To calla city boring though, especially a city the size of Tokyo is quite ignorant and a pretty harsh blanket term. I think if you find Tokyo "boring" it's more of a reflection of you, as a person. Not the city. ❤️

1500 km in 7:17 hours? I am so envious. In Germany with the ICE I need for 800 km to my mother with two smaller regional trains in between and 3-5 changeovers a total of almost 10 hours. I always travel 1st class, I allow myself the luxury once a year. Last year on the outward journey I wanted to have during the longest journey (6 hours for 600 km) the big advertised food (schnitzel with rice and vegetables) and we had just left, for "logistical reasons" were no hot food in the train, I got hold of the last sandwich (it was warm and did not taste good and was expensive) and would otherwise have had to feed on candy bars. I sat in the quiet compartment, but there were loud phone calls or listening to music without headphones, despite complaints. Most toilets were broken, I had to climb halfway across the train and stand in line to pee. In one train compartment the air conditioning failed at 33C outside temperature and the people from there were squeezed in with us in 1st class. I luckily had a single seat. But for once there was no delay, I have experienced often enough. Germany could learn soooo much from Japan in this respect!
@math_build
@math_build 2 жыл бұрын
Well as a german i can confirm: Our trains are "only sometimes delayed" because delayed means here more than an hour later (also cancelled trains count not as delayed) In japan a 10 sec delay is considered as mayor delay and the passengers will be dissappointed. By applying this standard to germany NOT A FKN SINGLE TRAIN WOULD BE IN TIME! "senk ju vor träwelling with Deutsche Bahn"

Another great video, informative and funny as usual! Of course 7 hours is a long trip, but just to put things into perspective: where I live there aren't high speed trains and the train tracks are actually really poorly maintained. Last month I took a 570 kms trip, it took... 17 hours! It was a sleeper and I got to book a room so it wasn't that bad, just painfully slow lol

Did the same journey once (changing at Shintosu for Nagasaki though). Enjoyed it very much. In fact, we opted to go to Nagasaki because of the prospect to relax on the train for a day. Regarding not seeing Mt Fuji: I‘ve been to Japan so many times and have never seen Mt Fuji. Not from the train, not from the Sky Tree, not from Hakone, never. I‘m convinced it is just a hoax and there is no Mt Fuji - just paintings of a volcano that never existed.

Fuji showed its greatness right in front of us! Our guide told us we were so lucky since the past few days it was all covered with the clouds. We visited Japan Jan 2020. A month later COVID hit. Another way to look at is this is about 100 miles shorten than NYC, New York to Orlando Florida (Disneyworld). About 3 hour flight and round trip $150 or so (but no where as comfy or pleasant boarding). I seem to remember that pretty much only JR Central Shibkansen and or the Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto line and those areas were profitable, all others operate at a loss. To put it in perspective I see a one way flight from Tokyo to Kagoshina on JAL, 2 hours and $88. The Japan Rail pass is very nice and convenient if you go and visit Japan but it makes us numb to the real cost of the Shinkansen.

There's literally a cutting board on top of the building. I can't stop laughing. You finish your sandwich. See you on the other side. 🤮. I absolutely love your videos and all your comments. It makes part of my day better when I can watch a video. I really hope you keep making these videos for a long time and enjoy yourself while making them.

The cutting board quip still has me laughing, and that one skyscraper reminded me of an after shave bottle with a round screw top cap.
