You Texan make me laugh when you talk about a cold front coming in😄😅 come up north for a cold from 😄 Here in southwestern Iowa we are getting some welcome rain today we may see 2" we are still in a drought... I'm just glad it's rain, not snowflakes On the water spicket on the outside of the barn, take a piece of your cattle panel and make a box and attach it to the barn where you can still get your hand through but the cattle can't get their horns through it

I'm in SW Iowa as well, and I giggle when he talks about the cold as well. I'm sure Jami is a bit more familiar with the midwest weather with being from Illinois. I'm just thankful for the rain and mild temperatures in mid November. One of these days, we will get hit. ❄️

You don't have to fill them up all the way especially in the cooler months, then you don't have to empty them and make a mess!! You'll be able to judge how much and often you have to fill them, also you could have the faucet on the outside of the fence and have the trough inside with drain facing out, then when you drain it, most of the water goes on the outside of the fence.😊😊

I miss dressing in 4 layers of clothes to go out to do chores. Even though we had a water heater in the stock tank it would have 3 inches of ice in it.y husband put a hot water faucet outside of the house so I could carry hot water to the livestock. Now I live in Arkansas and laugh at people in snorkel coats freezing in 60* weather. 30* is short weather.

Lester can u add drain plugs to the troghs ? You can run pvc on drain and have it go ]under the trogh underground and run it out of pature along the fence. Which would keep the area dry.

I'm afraid that's what will happen if you put one on the outside of the hay barn area. The water will run down to the other barn and make a mud trail that never dries.

I think closer to 2 months would be better. That way you are for sure that the cows have gone through a couple cycles because even if they are bred during their cycle it may not take. And maybe give Jenny Lane time to mature if she needs to.
