She’s need either two cans a day and a bowl of dry food OR one can and full bowl of dry food. She’s needs both. At least twice a day. Especially if she is pregnant. She needs nourishment for the babies.

Heartedly agree that she needs both wet and dry cat food. And, PLEASE...no grocery store dry cat food brands!!! Buy a higher quality dry cat food at Tractor Supply or Farm and Fleet...wherever.

Roman definitely has a pep in his step these days. Kitty is sweet. She is not feral or she wouldn't come near you at all. Probably dumped at the rest stop.

100% not feral. You're spot on. Dumped or was a kitten to another feral. We get nothing but ferals out here. It took me 9 months to trap the Mama Kitty - whom I believe passed a few weeks ago - and I also had to trap two of her litters. It was so awful and stressful because they are truly petrified of humans and of feeling 'boxed-in' near anyone. They typically need to have 2 escape routes. They try not to even make noises around humans because they're so afraid of being seen. The only time our feral ever made a sound was when I trapped her babies, and oh boy... it was such a low, quiet growl that I didn't take even one step forward. Lol! It was chilling and proved to me that ferals are not your typical cat. They're wild animals, and it's a rarity to tame a true feral. (They'd have to at least be semi-feral and fairly young to have any hope of becoming accustomed to people). I still feel awful for the experience our "Verbena" had of being trapped and spayed. It traumatized her for quite a while. It had to be done though, because the kittens keep coming and it's an endless cycle. They can have something like 18 kittens in any given year. Boggles my mind. Sorry for rambling. Lol! I'm really just talking to myself.

@@kristin-happytexan I'm so sorry she passed. That's so sad. I would imaging this lady has kittens under the barn or is pregnant. Or she was just recently dumped at that rest stop. Hopefully she has already been spayed. It wont be long before hse lets Lester handle her. She is looking for companionship or she would not have approached him like that.

Bernadette is such a perfect name. She'll mellow as she gets used to you. She doesn’t seem feral, but independent! My cat was found with a sibling all alone as a baby. She is probably close to 6 years old now. Very loving, independent , however, everything's still on her terms!😂❤😊 she runs the show!

I know each year doing barn chores myself for the horse's I'm effected by the cold a little more each go round. Lester, those Friskies cat food boxes are not easy to open for me either. I have to use a knife or scissors. We feed a dozen or so barn kitties and buy the 40 can boxes, 3-4 at a time because they aren’t always available when we need them. Love you, Jami, and all of the babies. Lester, I just love they way you fold little souls into your life so effortlessly. New cat shows up, yay! Barn cat! Cats don't get a lot of water, and are very prone to diseases in the kidneys urinary tract. My nieces cat sleeps in the bathroom sink until you come turn the tap on for her. She's also trained me to leave a stream of fresh water running lol! Anyhow, they need the fluid from wet food, and the nutrition of good dry food. A lot of these low cost foods are made in China, and full of all kinds of garbage you would never feed a pet. Starving cats to make them huint mice is a cruel old wives tale. A working cat can be encouraged to hunt through play, but not forced to eat mice/rats out of desperation. Talk about stuff you wouldn't feed your pet. Also,some domesticated cats may not have a high prey drive, they are individuals.❤

BARNADETTE: She can have 2 cans at breakfast and 2 at evening feed during this bitter cold she needs good quality low color/low dye dry food if it looks bright n cheery it is terrible for them, put it up on a shelf or on top of the hay she can get to but other animals that don't jump n climb easily can't. If you feel she's getting too much at 4 a day cans do 1 in the morning and 2 at night for evening freezy cold fuel. Can food is honestly what most vets recommend for cats. She also needs a heated water dish cats can get severely dehydrated easily in extreme temps both cold and hot weather.
