I love the Umlindi. It's definitely underappreciated. It's awesome how much it can be modified

I have the umlindi with tara pocket and recon belt. Love the setup. One question. Is it normal to get some stretch and fraying at the molle loop where g-hooks for delta straps connect? Greetings from Slovenia.

It’s not unheard of, especially when moving a great distance with the pack loaded. It hasn’t affected my packs to any appreciable degree.

Newbie hiker who hasn't a clue what to wear and can't hike because I can't find a pack that fits. Female, 5'6" with 17" torso. Been trying out Ospreys, Gregory's in 22 to 28L sizes and cannot find comfort. Maddening. I worry about my back and shoulders (I always have some ailment from overdoing yoga, now it's one foot that is acting up). The mass-built packs lift up while I walk. I don't like fabric...Me: I'll be building up to 1-3-5hr treks in NYC forests and natural habitats. Umlindi and Junction have been suggested. Light load: rain jacket, puffer, lil towel, something to sit on, lunch, med kit, water, snacks, headlamp. Would love some feedback. Sadly, you'll never turn me into a camper. Not in my genes...Best, a potential user

Well... at least 100,000 years of human history says camping is in all of our genes ;-) Sounds like you're more squared away than you think with a pretty good idea of what you should carry for day hiking. I'd recommend dumping yoga and taking up tai chi for a meditative art that is much more aligned with natural body movement. As to your hiking pack issues, you can start with this link to try to get the packs you already have dialed in better: hillpeoplegear.com/packfitment You may find that what you already have works fine once dialed in properly. If that doesn't work, I would recommend giving the Junction a shot. Whatever else, keep hiking. The world needs more people who spend time in the woods.

@@HillPeopleGear I like the way you think! Tai Chi has been in my mind to ease my back and woes. I’ve been in your site sooooo many times trying to figure out what to try. I thought the Umlindi had better back support but might be too much for my short urban treks. Great looking pack that seems to perform even better than the Junction. But who am I kidding, Indiana Jones I am not. Thanks for the wisdom!

@@seechangenyc280 I think the Junction is all you're going to need. However, a belted Umlindi is indeed a very nice lower back stabilizer.

Hi Evan, I love your videos and your gear designs, but this question has nothing to do with them :) - Please, what is the name, name brand of your straw hat? It's perfect! Thank you and keep the videos rolling..

hillpeoplegear.com/westernhats ...although I've just started using a sunbody fully perimeter vented palm leaf and so far I'm very happy with it.

When are the water bottle holders back in stock

Do you not like the dual water bottle holsters on the Ute because of the increased width of the Ute? is it too crowded on the belt to get easy access and compression from the deltas?
@HillPeopleGear
@HillPeopleGear 3 жыл бұрын
No, they fit just fine. I've found that for some reason on the big packs a different setup is more comfortable. Probably due to the weight of the pack.

Does it have a waste belt? Do you have a video where you actually show the pack?

how much does that pack set-up weigh totally empty of gear good water...
@HillPeopleGear
@HillPeopleGear 3 жыл бұрын
Looks like 6lbs not counting the pistol holster. Weight is a criteria that we consider when designing gear, but the overriding factor is always efficiency. Weight is part of efficiency, but only a small part of it.

Found a new old stock Sweetwater a couple years ago so still using that. The First Need remains supreme but for backpacking in America, I'll try to find another pump at some point that is smaller and lighter than the first need. Not going to be switching to a squeeze pump though.
