I’m the really good meal type lol I like one pot but also like a baking bread and making a hot beverage. Great video. There are times I do not have time to cook a full on meal so what you do is the perfect middle ground.

I like to parboil snakes for a couple minutes...breaks down any fats or oils, which can cause digestive issues...then pan fry as recommended...freezer bag thing is really convenient and quick...and as to digesting meat, it takes time, energy, and LOADS of water to digest meat...

i made a couple batches of your granola bar recipes now.. it can almost be a meal in itself very filling and eliminates hunger for a long time. tastes awesome too.

Good recipe for the granola bars. Modified it a bit for our eating style and it is great. Thanks for the reminder about electrolytes. Much better to prevent rather than heal. Always enjoy your presentations.

I've taken Wise Foods meals for camping in general but I'm kinda getting sick of it. I like the food, but it's cumbersome if you don't have more than just yourself to eat it. I like the idea of the freezer bag method but have always been very wary of putting boiling water in to plastic. Good 'food' for thought in this video. And actually, without an open flame on the food it seems like cleanup would be pretty easy after just letting your food cook in the cozy. Been watching these 'long house' clips back to back while doing some really menial office work tonight. Thanks for making them. Really inspiring me to get one last trip in for Fall before it dumps snow here.

Cleanup is super easy using classic freezer bag cooking. But remember if you're not comfortable with boiling water in plastic, those exact same recipes work great as one pot meals which is how I do it. The main reason I do one pot instead of boiling water in freezer bags is to make sure I can cook until food is fully rehydrated. Usually this is to boiling and then let sit in the pot cozy (same as you'd get in a freezer bag), but sometimes it is longer.

On the dehydrated ground meat do you cook it then dehydrate or just dehydrate raw? Never done this but just recently got a dehydrator

Millet is great, how about sardines in olive oil overnight? Yoghurt is good because it's important to keep the gut bacteria happy.

Yeah I am experienced in bear areas and I wouldn't go hiking/camping with you. You're playing the equivalent of russian roulette with bears.

It all depends on the environment. My final bear count last year was 37, although that was an unusually high year. I'd do things differently out in the Sierras or the Smokies or in grizzly country. Here in Colorado bears in the backcountry very consistently avoid humans and anything to do with them.
