Very nice! Great progress in a fairly short time frame. All of that work will make for an exciting layout, for sure. Too bad that you couldn't have gone with O81 on the top level and O72 on the lower. The wider curves certainly make a big difference. I had to compromise on my layout, because of the availability of K-Line O81, but I've made provisions to take-up the O72 at the narrow end of the layout, when I can find some O81. Your music made me want to go over to Kent Rollins Cowboy Cooking Channel, as that is his theme music. Keep up the great work. An excellent video, as always.

I feel your pain. My 12 × 20 foot layout had to be dismantled and sold when we decided to move. It had the distinction of being featured in a 2012 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine. Taking that down took 2 weeks. Had over 700 feet of wiring under the platform. So yes, I feel your pain. Good luck with your NEXT one!

I'll say this much for you RJ, you sure know how to WORK! I couldn't have accomplished so much in only 18 minutes! Ah, to be young again... What am I saying? I'm just gettin' started baby! 🤣😉🤩 Let me tell you, I can WELL understand dealing with the nightmare that is "Under the train table!" I have to deal with it several times a year, sometimes to dig out stuff I want to blow away at a train show OR when the Christmas train container has to come out. Pop some Tylenol and have the Ben-Gay standing by, there's no other way! Looking forward to the next installment, and that's a good-looking and well thought out trak plan!

Good luck on your layout. Your original layout was my inspiration for my first 4by 8 layout. I appreciate that you are passionate but still realistic about what'll most of us can accomplish with our layouts. We have upgraded to an 8 by 18 foot layout and upgraded to Atlas track, you will not regret it. My village, even in the new and improved layout, it still very much inspired by your downtown. Good Luck!!! Lot's of work!😀

Hey, RJ, you've made some great progress. Very impressive! As you are working away, I believe it would be a nice touch if you could bend the far end of the river inward such that it appears to disappear around the bend. Like what is seen in your track plan. That maybe exactly what you intend to do, I'm just not sure as it kind of looks like the river may end at the wall. Just thinking out loud, lol. Just take your time and have fun with it. Bill B.

You may have enough running footage to use Woodland Scenics grade rises to be able to move trains between loops. Would add a great deal of interest.

I would need about 25ft (2% grade up 6.5in) of track to make a semi realistic looking incline, which I do not have room for. I am not a fan of having inclines to different levels on a layout.

Little wirering tip, I have been using Wago wire nuts. They are easy to connect & disconnect. For temporary track set ups for the kids, they have been great. When I do get to build a permanent layout, I will definitely still use them. Just tin the tips of the wires so they hold up over time. The new layout looks like it will be great. 👍

Why did you choose Atlas track? vs Fastrack or Gargraves?
@rj.trains2 ай бұрын
I had fastrack, hated it, doesn’t look good and needs a lot of work to get going. Gargraves, I think the ties are too big and it looks toy like. With both they have rounded rails so you can’t run two rail o gauge products on it.

New here Hello. Would like to start off by saying interesting layout understood under construction but please can you make a Video explaining your Kind of Kingdom railroading world. I watched a lot of your videos and see your Heavily into Passenger Trains but a little confused by the Time Er, Time Period and Brand name Railroad as most seek to model off of. I see your East Coast American but....... East Coast what!?! Please help me help you as I will like No other as I'm a Mystery to all. Got a Secret. Do you LIVE STREAM as you should or Hope you do!?
@rj.trains4 ай бұрын
Hello. I do mention what I model in a few of my previous videos but, long story short, I buy trains from all time periods, from modern day to the 1800s. I like my layouts to be set so it wouldn't look out of place to see a modern freight or a steam locomotive passing by, so it is not set in any one time period. I am originally from New York, and lived for a few years in Washington DC, so I primarily collect models of railroads that operated in those areas. I do live stream occasionally, I will more when the layout is more complete.
