I am a little confused. This is in Holland. Why are all the people black? Where did they originate from? Which countries put this on? It is not like the Caribbean carnivals.

Dutch summer carnival is influenced by the dutch caribbean islands mainly Curacao and Aruba to a lesser extent. A lot of the bands have people from Curacao in it and they use Tumba and/or Roadfire as its carnivalmusic...no soca....Aruba uses its own soca music..... Other bands that were part of this years carnival originate from...Cabo Verde ( a large community lives in Rotterdam ), the DR (1st time this year )...we had 3 french bands mainly from Guadeloupe...There are also 3 other dutch caribbean islands...Saba..St Eustatius and SXM which form SIU ( Small Island Unity ) and has soca as its carnivalmusic...There was also a band that mainly consisted out of people from Suriname....Then you also had some dutch bands with a mixture of people in it...and finally you got the 2 biggest soca bands...Triniconnection and Caribbean Love.
