This longplay has some of the parts skipped to help with the pacing, for example the only time forklift racing is shown in the longplay is only the first time and most of the forklifting itself is skipped since pretty much nothing happens for the most part and time is skipped to the next event. also some parts time is skipped since there is either nothing to do for the rest of that day or you need to wait several in game hours for the next event to happen

This game is awesome. I also did full playthroughs of Shenmue 1, 2 and 3 and must admit Shenmue 1 has its own unique atmosphere.

Got it for Christmas 2000 and beat by the return to school. Amazing and way ahead of its time doesn't even sum it up at this point in gaming. A reason to own a Dreamcast at that point says a lot about it.

This game brings all positive memories backs. This soundtrack and story is made for people which like chinese culture, martial art, Bruce Lee or other. This feeling of revenge make Shenmue so special. :) Best regards from germany.

Shenmue Chapter 1: Yokosuka… It came out during a time Sega spun off its subsidiaries; their legendary AM2 studio however merged with CRI for a brief spell (CRI did the Cyber Troopers Virtual-On home ports and developed the Aero Dancing series), hence the peculiar change in copyright notice for the DC release. Go figure!

I remember being stuck finding the forklift race and part itself to continue the story but then I most admit. I usually got stuck in the Arcade playing video games inside of the game and loosing al my money :D. Good memories! Like a lot of other Sega and AM2 games really ahead of its time. Two things I loved as a kid was visiting the dreads guy in front of his store dancing around because I thought he was so damn cool :D and doing the quick time events for the first time like in front of the small store inside your town when the kids shoot the ball at you.

this game is a masterpiece! Got shenmue 1 and 2 running on hos Switch with flycast looking so dmn good runnign at 60 fps throughout both games

The first 2 Shenmue games have their physics and timings tied to their framerate so unfortunately can not be ran above 30fps.

I’ve beaten Shenmue at least twelve times since the year 2000, I never had the heart to not buy the poor guy a drink. I mean, he delivers your Chinese food in less than fifteen minutes each time! The man deserves a cold drink. 😅
