I still have my PS3 and PS4. I haven't yet upgraded to a PS5. My buddy did. The graphics he said are incredible, but the games themselves aren't always that good, and the controls are again not the best either. So I'm holding off for now, while I can.

This game fascinates me for a few reasons. Firstly, this continues the weird trend of _Inspector Gadget_ licence games that I swear are only made to retain rights or something. This looks quite a bit better than _Gadget's Crazy Maze_ or _MAD Robots Invasion,_ but that's not saying much. Although, using most of the gadgets to get around is a huge plus, rather than pointlessly limiting you at every turn. Secondly, I'd have half-expected this to be based on the more recent cartoon, but the aesthetics are all drawn from the original 1983 show. I mean, I appreciate the lovely old art design, but the dialogue sounds like it was written by Tommy Wiseau. 😅 The fact that it's a party game is even more of a curveball. Also this is the first piece of modern _Inspector Gadget_ media I've seen in a while that actually uses the original theme song. It's a nice touch.

These are definitely made just to retain the rights. I don't know anyone who cares about Inspector Gadget aside from uncles who grew up in the eighties, and I don't even think they know what this is. I'm a gamer and I don't even know what it is.

@@princessCashel Yup. Couldn't agree more. I mean, I enjoy the old show (sometimes), but it's always been "great concept, so-so execution" for me. Except the pilot episode - that's where the good ideas were. Pity they didn't stick with those. The franchise just kept getting dumber since then. Even in terms of games, it should be a no-brainer to pull off a good one. The SNES game was decent, mind.

"Retain the rights" Wildbrain owns the franchise since 2012, with Disney only having the FILM rights, and - as far as I know - I don't think they are planning to sell it to any other distributor since they bought everything that belongs to DiC Entertainment.

This longplay covers a playthrough of the campaign, which covers all 16 minigames. I don't think you need me to tell you how awful this game is. I was morbidly curious about it back when it was first revealed. I grew more curious after people got upset over the game originally not having plans to release on Xbox. Now, I'm seriously questioning what the outrage was for.

I see there’s slow and sparse attempts at rebooting this series, but I can’t figure out who this game is for. Gen X and Millennials who saw the originals? No thanks. I was glad when this seemed to disappear, his helicopter hat used to bug me. It’s hard to imagine a child caring but idk…
