Wondering what's the top 3 choices of ammo? Brand, bullet weight, speed?
@LongRangeShootersofUtah8 жыл бұрын
I'd say #1 is Lapua Center X. Guys have tried even higher end options but for quality and price it's hard to beat center x. #2 I would say is either Wolf or SK. I started out shooting wolf match target and thought it was great until I shot center x. it's not as if it shoots that much tighter groups but there are far fewer flyers. I have shot SK standard plus or their other options but they are comparable to wolf. Everyone that is competitive is shooting some sort of sub-sonic premium ammo like these and I'd say 99.9999% are 40 gr bullets. You want subsonic because the transition from super sonic to sub sonic when the bullet passes back thru the sound barrier can cause it to lose stability and therefore shot to shot consistency just as in long range centerfire shooting when the bullet slows and goes transonic. That is typically where most folks will say the max accurate range is.

Thanks for the info. Going to have to get some center x.

what are the more popular scopes used in these shoots?
@LongRangeShootersofUtah8 жыл бұрын
Sightron SIII and SV 10-50 x 60 is the #1. I have an Brand New SV in MOA with illuminated reticle for sale for $2100 obo right now. I already have one on my Kidd Supergrade and an SIII on my CZ 455 Precision Trainer. SWFA 3-15 x 42 is also popular but it's at a disadvantage for shooting the small stuff or seeing holes in paper at 100 yards. There are a several Nightforce SHV, some Bushnell Elite Tactical, Vortex Razor Gen II and couple Schmidt & Benders. The #1 is the Sightron though because it focuses down to 13 yards and has such great magnification and glass.

That AR conversion with the S&B looked veeeery expensive... didn't seem to shoot that well. I thought he was going to light it up.

Can someone tell me anything on the Savage rifle at the 13:19 of this video. It appears to be a Savage mark ii TR or TRR-SR. Thanks...
@LongRangeShootersofUtah8 жыл бұрын
I know quite a bit about all the rifles except the savages. Sorry. Hopefully one of the guys shooting the savage in the video will jump on and answer your question.

I'm noticing a trend on these marksman shooting videos, there are some inconsiderate people on these ranges. It's real simple, if people want to talk, then take the conversation off the firing line. People are constantly getting detracted and get confused as to which target they need to be shooting. A little respect goes a long way.
@LongRangeShootersofUtah7 жыл бұрын
There are 40-50 people crammed into a space that should accommodate about 25 so it's tough. Plus you're there for hours at a time and many folks enjoy the conversations more than the match so it's really not bothersome. It's all part of the competition. It's not golf after all. It's a local match that is highly competitive but fun first of all.

Hello guys! I'm going to buy my first 22lr bolt action rifle. Considering between CZ ZKM452 SUPER MATCH and SAVAGE MARK II FV-SR. Buying it for hunting and target shooting. Can you help me to make a decision?
@LongRangeShootersofUtah8 жыл бұрын
In these compeitions I have yet to see a savage win for whatever reason, rarely see one place either. Of those two rifles I'd go with a CZ. My preferred model would be the 455 tacticoool or precision trainer.

How highly customized are the Anshutz 64R rifles?
@LongRangeShootersofUtah8 жыл бұрын
There's really no need to customize. They come as shown right out of the box. The 2 stage adjustable triggers are world class, barrels are extremely accurate and this version is even back bored and threaded for a suppressor or extension tube for iron sights. There are a few little upgrades you can get like the mag holder on the side, extra mags ($75 each...ouch!) and an extended mag release. But there is really no need to customize.
