Your deep sense of observation motivates me to recover mine, along with my concentration, both of which have been seriously damaged by the web... By the way, nowadays Kolinsky sable brushes are a no-no for people who love life and all living things. Your beautiful and cool cats seem to show you're one of these persons, so I guess you can understand that creating beauty through art should not depend on cruelty. The Kolinsky weasels are trapped and suffer a horrible death in the freezing forests of Russia. "Beginning in 2013, shipments to the U.S. of kolinsky hair brushes were halted and in some cases seized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service due to the kolinsky's inclusion in the international CITES agreement." (Wikipedia). There are plenty of excellent synthetic alternatives now, such as the Escoda Versàtil series.
@longstrideillustration5 ай бұрын
I do not condone animal cruelty. I understood that my brushes were called "sable" but actually synthetic since fur trapping has long been banned. Thanks for the info, I'll do more research on this.

The flexibility-elasticity ratio of the nib is a factor, as well how you use the pen (lots of pressure/scribbly style, or light pressure/calculated style). You'll find more info on choosing the best nib for your style in this blog article: longstrideillustration.com/best-dip-pens-for-drawing/

That's an interesting observation. The key takeaway from this video has more to do with the stroke style which effectively captures the expression or the action within a few strokes. If you've ever taken a gesture drawing class, you'll recall that capturing the movement and expression in a few strokes is the main intention.
