This style of music, known as skiffle, was an alternative to rock 'n' roll, back in the day. This being a live performance, the lyrics get chopped and changed, but there was a recorded version that did very well in the charts, from memory. No.1 in a number of countries including the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Other songs include, 'Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavour (On The Bedpost Overnight?)', 'Rock Island Line', and, 'Cumberland Gap.'

I played "Rock Island Line" a while back and he kind of out-Lead Bellyed Lead Belly.

I'll second a recommendation for Cumberland Gap - so much energy!

Many of the guitar greats from Britain were inspired to pick up a guitar by Lonnie Donegan. Elvis had millions of teenagers thinking 'I wish I could do that'. Lonnie Donegan had them thinking 'I can do that'. Add a cheap guitar, Bert Weedon's book 'Play in a Day' and a few years of honing skill & you get the British invasion.
