Yeah but that's real life. In the Walking Dead comic, which is the main universe and connected to the games, Maggie Greene (Hershel's daughter) also suffers a heart attack for reasons I won't explain since it's a major spoiler. Glenn (who also made a cameo in the game) wants to do CPR and another character says no, citing the same argument of her already being brain dead and turning. Rick is ready to shoot the other guy but Maggie is able to come back on her own. Thus, my logic is to just assume if the game presents an option, assume it's legit unless otherwise proven it's not.

So because they don't ever like go into again i feel it appropriate to tell you about Jolene So dan or Andy I don't remember which one he mentions that they had people gather at the save lots when things first started going down and 'Jolene' the crazy women has a daughter named Danielle. Who after a bit was lured into the woods by the bandits and after not returning 'jolene' becomes suspicious and naturally goes after her only to find out she had been assaulted and murdered by the bandits and in the video that you get afterwards it's implied that the same happens to her. If you ask she says that they tried to kill her but she wouldn't let them and the reason she's so obsessed with Clementine is if you saw the photo her and her daughter look somewhat similar It's pretty obvious because she's in uniform but she worked there and that's where the bandits got her amd the food boxes from

If the game isn't showing you the correct buttons for the speech choices you should be able to flick the thumbstick on the controller to make them re-appear so you don't accidentally choose the wrong option. I would guess this happens because your mouse is on a surface that makes it detect tiny movements even when you're not touching it, so the game thinks you're trying to use mouse and keyboard. The same thing happens with my mouse, sometimes I have to unplug it if it gets too annoying.
