HD rumble is actually basically a limited-frequency speaker with a weight instead of a speaker cone, so the developer can actually play sound through it. It's used to great effect in Golf Story.

Ashens, I have the same case for my normal Switch. It's a great case. The reason it's larger than it needs to be is because the top half is intended to hold the power adapter, games, cables and the other various bits and bobs so that you don't need to pack those separately. Instead it's all contained in the same place. Perhaps that's not what you are looking for but it's quite useful for me.

But you'd still be better using the stand as a holder and charger when not in use otherwise you have to leave it laying around, or buy a case for it so you don't scratch the plastic screen, you'd be better with the stand for holidays, for co-op taking the joy cons out, for fixing your joycons when you get the drift issue (lite still uses the same drifting thumb sticks so you'd have to send the whole console in for repair) You're better off with the full switch as it's got a bigger screen for hand held mode, better for bigger hands, it's got a stand so you don't have to lean it on something if using extra joycons (because you can't detach them) I don't see any reason why you'd buy this verson, £80 less for loads of missing features isn't worth it.

The better battery life really is due to the newer chips. The standard switch now uses it (look for the one with the red box). Battery life goes from 2.5 hour minimum to a 4.5 hour minimum.

Consider what he said about refurb units as well. I picked up a second hand switch last year in CEx for less than the switch lite retails for and I have had zero issues. I have no doubt that a year later and shopping around a decent one can be had even cheaper now, though possibly not as near mint condition as mine was.

I doubt the main differentiator between the screens is the pixel density given the typical viewing distance and fairly small change. More likely it that it's a fundamentally different display that performs better in terms of brightness and/or viewing angle, or maybe a change in the touch layer.

It's a problem a lot of people have been having and Nintendo ignored it for a good while before finally acknowledging it after getting bombarded with rightfully angry customers

I mean, I'm sure by the time the drift started they were too late and development to be able to change it without having to delay it. Which they could have easily done since it wasn't officially announced when the drift issue, so they didn't have to announce a delay. I would be surprised if they started developing toggle switch lite just before the regular switch was released

Analog sticks go bad after a while. Now they're part of the system itself ... great... Spot on with the dpad comment. Many of them don't even seem to have a center pivot and you can push multiple directions at once confusing the game.

Replaced my launch day Lite with a second one today, since the left joystick was completely broken out of the box. Tread carefully, friends. The saddest part is the system is great with the exception of this joystick problem, which somehow has never been an issue before the Switch.

Perhaps one of the best D-pad's I've ever used in terms of tactileness and responsiveness has to be the one on the original Nintendo Game & Watches, notably Donkey Kong DK-52, even after 35+ years my DK-52's still work perfectly.
