There was one person who discovered how springs behave, how cables are analogous to arches, and, from his work with microscopes, saw and defined the word "cell". That was Robert Hooke. In this video, I tell you a bit about his amazing life, how we went to the same high school (albeit at very different times) and, I suggest we'd all do better if we looked at the world with the inquisitive nature and perceptive thought of Robert Hooke.
I'm Paul Kassabian. I'm a structural engineer and I am a Principal at a firm in Boston, MA. I taught graduate students at MIT for nine years and currently teach on/off at Harvard's Graduate School of Design (GSD). These are videos based on my years of teaching structures to students. Enjoy!
