your videos are such a treat!! the amount of b roll coverage is still bonkers (i'm surprised you don't have a cameraman) and the script feels so natural and seamless! i never thought about how tutorials weren't built into games because of limited memory! i always appreciate a tutorial but anything that allows people to interact with it naturally and intuitively without explicit instruction is truly a gem.

Thank ya, glad you like the vids! Some developers are SUPER creative on teaching you how to play the game without specifically telling you, and once you realize it you're like WOAH. I love those lil moments. :D

Gosh I didn’t know howl entertaining a video about manuals could be, but you did a phenomenal job on this holy. 10/10 subbed.

hey! new subscriber, i never really liked these types of videos but the way you explained and showed how manuals had little treats and help in there really surprised me, especially since this is what i assume to be in vr? the body movement seems natural and its like you are actually explaining it irl! the camera shots and music were perfect and i ended up enjoying AND learning some new stuff on it, i was born in the early 2000's and i never got any console until i was a teenager, so most of my games had manuals and secret stuff inside of the game. if it wasn't for this i would've never even knew about the extra art/story/etc. that were hidden in them. love this video so much, keep it up! cant wait to see the next video!! 💓💓

Aww thank ya, and welcome to the channel! You're correct, this is all done in a VR game called VRChat, with full body motion tracking, so it captures the way I move and whatnot. For all the stuff I'm showing off, I had to scan my IRL manuals and create 'em inside the game haha. It's a lot of work but it's fun, and glad ya liked it!

I think the need or lack of need for a manual can come down to interest. If someone isn't particularly crazy about something, they'll want to go the fast route and get done with it sooner than later. But, if they LOVE something, it becomes an incentive to sit down and spend the time to thoroughly learn the intricate details.

Same! Some of the old strategy guide magazines for specific games had a ton more info as well. I still have my Super Metroid one. That helped me out with learning how to speedrun the game at the time. ^^

This is so cool, this video was amazing to watch! Your cinematography is awesome as well! I had some of the same experiences, although with me considering I was born in '05, it was with Xbox 360, DS, and Wii games, all of which I either rented from Blockbuster Video or GameStop! This video was on my home page too which you certainly deserve!

In non-collaborative efforts, games or tasks, I LOVE to just fidget with whatever I'm working on. It tickles the right receptors in my brain to just figure out how something works without anyone or anything telling me. Now don't get it twisted, I will refer to whatever pamphlet or manual required to do something that I actually need to get made or fixed in a timely fashion, but if I'm allowed the time and space to just fool around with a thing I don't understand I find myself fully invested. It's really a testament to people who pioneer their own crafts, I'm certain the way that my brain works is the same way prestigious inventors find their foothold in the history books. My true catharsis is when I'm alone and allowed to sink my teeth into some weird and obscure project, be it physical or digital.

Right? It's almost like solving a puzzle. That's what I liked about the game Riven so much; the puzzles in the game were actually just technology in the world that you didn't understand how it worked and you had to figure it out to progress further in the game. So cool!

I find it really funny that as soon as I saw this on my home page I just clicked instantly because your avatar was that good and was then given a surprisingly tailored version of a “back in my day” essay XD Also I prefer just googling stuff and following what an actual professional is telling me to do because I’ve found that struggling through things and actually trying to do it on my own never goes well and unfortunately just worsens the problem most of the time.

Haha yeah I feel like if I'm ever to the point where I might break stuff, it's definitely time to look up how to do it properly. XD

It's kinda cool to have been young enough to be near the start of the whole thing and see it progress over time. The Atari 2600 was already an old console by the time I got my paws on it lol. The GameCube is a great way to start though!
