I take a solo ride to a new area .. hadn't been in there since the 80's when I had a bunch of Airedale Terriers .. found an old rock abandoned homestead house .. wonder who lived there

Yes we can call that the good old days when those places were wide-open and the environment was sometimes quite different there was more food to eat Pinon nuts and just all kinds of things that you can't even imagine that are gone from the landscape now destroyed by cattle droughts floods pesticides heat extremes lack of water Timber cutting colecting!! sometimes the lack of the Native Americans would plant!or burn off land to bring back grass to bring in-game etc etc

We hunt raccoons with Walkers, Blueticks, Black and Tans, Plotts, and Redbones. I miss going when I was young; I could stay out all night. Nowadays, I'm just getting old like everyone else. Our wives always hated that we stayed out all night, so we'd bring them along once, and they would never ask to come again... lol.

Back in the late 70s or early 80s, my Dad had a few Airedales around the place. We hunted coons. Big male my Brother called Igor. We crossed him on a Walker and got a half hound female we called Liz. Brett: enjoy your videos and looking at your equipment. I am near 80 and still ride young horses in empty country here in southern jArizona, New Mexico, eastern Idaho and northern Wyoming. I start all my client’s horses and my own youngsters under pack saddles. Before I ever throw a leg over them, they have seen a lot of country trailing behind my saddle horse. I carry up to 4 of the large, hard sided Forest Service canteens for emergencies. I never ride beyond a dry water source on a day ride. As you know, out in this big, dry country, rides are determined by the availability of water. Starting young horses under a light pack gets them used to things banging around and the presence of a lead horse keeps them calm. By the time I step up on them, they have seen and heard about everything so the wrecks are milder and surely fewer.. Not telling you anything you do not know. I carry a Garmin In Reach, on my gunbelt so that I can contact emergency help if I get into a storm and need a trailer or other assistance. Have you ever used a bivvy sack instead of a tent in warm weather to keep the rattlers away? Up in the Northern tier, I sleep in the open next to my fire as I am scared to death of bears. And I take two bully breed dogs. Wild country is the balm for our souls and the outside of horses and dogs is good for the inside of us. See to your weapons and stand to your horses, Storm Rough Country Horses

Those Rock piles or pyramids got to remember they might have been sitting there for 80 100 years or even more! survey lines measuring property markers, you use what you got! and in that case it would be rocks. in the old days you can blaze some trees and stuff some junipers or Cedars but look at the country now I bet you it doesn't look Harley much like it looked 150 years ago 150 years ago you still had Wild tribes things were different everywhere ,there was game like you ain't never could imagine and different plants and cactuses and trees and flowers and aRoma's and smells and ,,..I missed it I missed it also a hundred years too late ! I've been trying to gobble it up since I was a little kid and I hated seeing people ruin our environment even as a child.
